Do you prefer Ivy or Winter for a girl?

Dd2 is due January and agreeing on a name has become difficult! Dh has vetoed all my suggestions and these are the only two names left.
One is an absolute love of mine and the other is dh’s favourite. What would you go for?

Ivy. I just struggle to see a child hot and tantrumming or having a lovely time on a beach being called Winter.

Reminds me of the devil child we came across at mini golf called Blossom ‘Blossom! No stop it Blossom! No don’t hit the statue darling Blossom!’ Etc

Ivy

drpet49 · 10/12/2021 19:07

Ivy

sageandbasil · 10/12/2021 19:06

Ivy

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2021 18:01

It has its charm @BlueFlavour, Lenten Rose is also pretty

BlueFlavour · 10/12/2021 17:51

Ooo Winter Jasmine is beautiful @WhoppingBigBackside

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2021 15:54

How about Winter Jasmine?

midsomermurderess · 10/12/2021 15:32

Winter definitely, it's striking, has an air of drama. Ivy on the hand is cute.

Elisemum · 10/12/2021 14:07

Wouldn’t do* winter Ivy

Elisemum · 10/12/2021 14:07

Both gorgeous names whichever one you pick will be fab.
I personally would do: Winter Ivy as it sounds a bit silly to me.
One or the other.
Good luck

Thanks again everyone!
I’ve managed to convince dh of my way of thinking and she will be a Winter. Winnie as a nickname. Although he did make comments regarding whether I wanted to put Paddington in there as a middle name too... HmmGrin

Both nice, prefer Ivy

raintropics · 10/12/2021 10:51

@nannybeach

Neither, you're right Ivy IVI (ex nurse) winter is a season. Would you call someone Spring
Summer and Autumn are both popular names...
raintropics · 10/12/2021 10:50

I love both but Ivy has become very popular so I'd probably choose Winter.

Ivy Winter or Winter Ivy would be beautiful.

Flutterflybutterby · 10/12/2021 04:23

Winter. Ivy too common now and Winter can be Winnie which is gorgeous 😍

Time40 · 10/12/2021 00:25

Ivy.

Winter isn't a name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 10/12/2021 00:09

Ivy - it's lovely

I think Winter is grim (!)

Callcat · 10/12/2021 00:09

Winter! Love it so much.

Kite22 · 09/12/2021 23:56

I'm not particularly keen on Ivy, but it is miles better than Winter.

Winter Ivy sounds like an air freshener

Agreed, or just a gardener describing a plant.

Kitkat151 · 09/12/2021 23:35

Ivy
Winter is not a name

nocoolnamesleft · 09/12/2021 23:29

Ivy, by a long way.

nannybeach · 09/12/2021 23:28

Neither, you're right Ivy IVI (ex nurse) winter is a season. Would you call someone Spring

Skysblue · 09/12/2021 23:27

Ivy.

Please don’t call your child Winter. They will get teased so much, and Winter is a horrible season.

Enough4me · 09/12/2021 23:24

Winter is a cold month when people look forward to spring. I can't get my head around it as a name as it makes me think of rain, ice and hail. Ivy makes me think of IV drips though. So Winter, out of these two.

CoutureBakes · 09/12/2021 23:23

Now all I can hear is...."Miss Ivvvvy Winterrrrrs!"
Who is a sweet and talented drag artis by the way.
But I love that name and think it sounds so pretty and we are constantly saying it here Smile
