Only girl’s name that has been received positively, but I don’t love it. I’m trying to make myself think of the glamorous flapper-writer Zelda Fitzgerald, but I just think of a witchy aunt type (was there a Zelda in Sabrina?). I also really like Nintendo games so I wouldn’t want anyone to think I named her after Princess Zelda Hmm

Anything that is a similar vibe?

I love the name Zelda. It's short, sassy, easy to spell and pronounce. It's not over used but still works internationally.

Poor Zelda Fitzgerald, she did not have a happy end (burnt to death in a mental hospital fire).

I think maybe you are thinking witchy because of Sabrina the Teenage Witch!

I was thinking Clara if I have a daughter, which is also a 1920s flapper style name. Other names along those lines are Marlene (pronounced Marlena), Greta, Gloria, Pearl.

Zelda has really grown on me. Easy to spell, works internationally, spunky, works on girl and woman. And the associations arent negative.

I think most young people would think of Princess Zelda to be honest. It’s like calling your son Mario or Luigi.

Can you give a list of a few of his typical choices, and a few of yours? Folk are great at finding compromise names on here

If you mean recevied positively by the partner, and he's meanwhile not bothered his arse to suggest anything himself and instead is sitting there like a little god passing judegment on all the names YOU come up with, then just start ignoring him. Especially if not married when it's your call what goes on the certificate anyway!
This isn’t the situation at all. He has opinions, I hate his. This is the only one we somewhat agree on but I am less keen.
