Chipp.

What would you call your baby boy? We're really struggling to find a name for this little one, due in 6 weeks. Big brother is Oscar.

Any help gratefully received.

In the story, Goodbye Mr Chips, his name was Arthur (Arthur Chipping). I agree it needs a soft sounding name, with more than one syllable. One syllable first and surnames together sounds harsh - beware also of longer names that will likely shorten to one syllable, "Tim Chipp".

Not Biff or Kipper ! Sorry that doesn't help. I'd avoid a hard Ch or P sound, so anything goes really.

That’s a sweet surname!

Something simple but softer sounding than Chipp - James, Gabe (Gabriel), Nate (Nathaniel), Luke, Jude, George

Or something with similar Olde England character - Seth, Silas, Jerome, Jethro, Barnabas, Rufus, Francis

The soft sound is what you need, either way

Daniel
James
Benjamin

I think you need a first name with quite a soft sound because Chipp is quite short and hard sounding, so something with a hard consonant doesn’t sound right eg Luke Chipp, Jacob Chipp.
