Love it!

GrandPrismatic · 20/11/2021 05:01

Aphra-disiac was my instant thought. I do like the name though but think would always mentally make that association

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 20/11/2021 01:27

Don't like it

HunkyPunk · 19/11/2021 23:21

How is it connected to a health regulatory body? The Australian health regulatory body is AHPRA, not Aphra. It’s got the same letters, but not in the same order. And no-one outside Australia has ever heard of it, anyway. Sorry.

Aphra is a lovely name!

WeasilyPleased · 19/11/2021 23:19

Oooh I love it. (Runs off to consult dh)

FreakinFrankNFurter · 19/11/2021 23:08

I've never heard it before but like it.

kt12mum · 19/11/2021 23:04

I like that it sounds strong but also soft, and not that common but still recognisable as a name ie not completely made up

I'm UK based so never even heard of that health organisation not on my radar at all so not an issue for me in that sense

I too think of this www.ahpra.gov.au/

Certainly not a strange or horrid name, but equally, I personally don't like it- with so many others to choose which aren't connected to a health regulatory body. Any others you like? What do you like about this name?

Kitkat151 · 19/11/2021 22:51

Sorry this name is just ugly to me

kt12mum · 19/11/2021 22:44

Wow very positive response I was expecting a more mixed response thank you everyone

I like it

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 19/11/2021 22:39

Ah no, that was Abra, but Aphra is much nicer!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 19/11/2021 22:37

It the name of the girl in Dr sleep isnt it?

I love it, fresh and different, without being too different!

HesperusWreck · 19/11/2021 22:31

I like it.

DramaAlpaca · 19/11/2021 22:26

I don't like the look of it written down or the sound of it, so it's a big No from me.

SkankingMopoke · 19/11/2021 22:25

I like it! My dad had a lovely girlfriend with that name (about 30 years ago!), so only good connections for me.

AuntDympna · 19/11/2021 22:09

I love the spelling, it feels like a strong name.

MrsBobDylan · 19/11/2021 22:09

It's a yes from me, it's bloody lovely!

Leeloo1233 · 19/11/2021 22:08

I know someone who named.their kid this and several people have missheard "afro" Confused

EileenGC · 19/11/2021 21:28

I like it, it reminds me of Alpha which is the name of an amazing young girl I know.

littleburn · 19/11/2021 21:27

My first thought was Aphra Benn too. It's a lovely name.

WholeClassKeptIn · 19/11/2021 21:24

Sounds like alpha or aphid to me.

But I often don't like names like this at first and then they grow on me!

MiddleParking · 19/11/2021 21:23

I know a gorgeous little Aphra. Love it.

CampagVelocet · 19/11/2021 21:20
