Ginny, red curly hair and Green eyes. 5ft 5ish tall and slim. Bubbly and a little posh. Smart and looks out for others, a bit of a do gooder.

Juno was actually named Juniper by her mother who was ‘in touch with nature’. Juno in contrast, works in the city, is always sharply and fashionably dressed and is always out with her similarly dressed girlfriends at the newest and hippest bar. Secretly though she dreams of settling down on a small holding in Wales with a menagerie of animals and feral children.

Juno’s parents are vegan and live in a small village in Wiltshire. Juno and her sister Dido, were both home educated and their diet consisted mostly of lentils and chickpeas. They were not allowed to watch television and we’re taught to read from books published by Virago.

Juno now lives in Croydon and works for the local council.

She is no longer vegan.

Hunter is 22 years old and lives in a house share in south London, although he grew up in High Wycombe. His signature dish is beef bourguignon, made in the slow cooker. He keeps losing his Oyster card. He has a degree in creative writing.

Abigail was in the popular set at school, and hasn’t really moved on from those days, though not as popular now. She’s got a boyfriend who she tries to mould into her idea of a perfect man. She posts pictures of her food. She loves a gel manicure and is having snowflakes and diamanté for Christmas.

Jason is a 45-year-old estate agent, with floppy blond hair and a strong chin. He has very good teeth. He is into cars - he enjoys driving for its own sake and dreams of owning a Porsche. He's divorced from Gemma who is 38 and they have a 7 year old son, Jamie who he sees every other weekend.

She collects porcelaine dolls and always has mints in her purse.

Delphine has been divorced 3 times at 32, 41 and (most recently), at 50. Her new boyfriend thinks she’s 45. She has 3 adult children who all live abroad. She lives in a converted gate house. It’s cute but it only has storage heaters, no gas central heating. Her hair is very short and dyed white. She needs glasses but doesn’t wear them, likes Pinot Grigio and drives a 2007 Vauxhall Polo in bright blue. Delphine works full time in the offices for a civil engineering firm. They make and install large scale flow meters for underground pipes, but she just generates the invoices. She mostly eats ready meals for dinner because they’re 3 for £7.50 in the M&S food near her work.

Angela is the epitome of elegance. Late 50's, immaculate coiffured hair, b,once but going a little grey. She loves skirts, tights and court shoes with blouses that have high collars and long sleeves. She lives in a semi, works in a bank and is married with two grown up sons.

Bede is aged about 50, balding with Ronnie Corbett style spectacles. He usually dresses in cords, a non-matching shirt and an ancient green cardigan. His interests mainly revolve around wildlife - bird-spotting, conservation and so on. He's married to Margaret and they have a grown up son called Graham.

Sarah is steady and reliable, quite good at most things but not outstanding at anything (so does not rock the boat). She has a steady senior management level job, does yoga and sings in a choir. Happily married to Tom with 2.4 children.
