I’d have another name in between. I think it sounds much better to break up the repeating sounds, and more interesting than two monosyllabic names.

Names entirely randomly picked and not necessarily specific suggestions:

George William John

George Alfred John

George Benedict John

George Philip John

You get the idea...

I didn't think of the Beatles

My personals preference would be George Johnathan - think it feels less choppy.
But I do like George John. Classy and timeless names in my opinion

And Hmm to the Beatles reference. That's a bit of a reach

John is my grandfather's name and therefore set in stone.

We love the name George.

I agree it's not the BEST with the two single syllable names.. but equally we wouldn't be saying them together too often.

It's so hard to find a boy's name! We used our favourites with the first one of course!

It's a bit choppy sounding, but not awful. I wouldn't make the Beatles connection, probably as they are both such common names neither is tied to the band.

No idea about ‘open’, was meant to say Nope.

HoppingPavlova · 15/11/2021 09:57

Open, the two ‘G/J’ sounds sounds really blunt.

SummaLuvin · 15/11/2021 09:47

Personally, I wouldn't make the Beatles assumption, not sure if that's an age thing - I am under 30 and I've never listened to a lot of the Beatles. Also, John is a family name for me, so I am used to a lot of men in my life having John as a middle name, so maybe thats why it didn't stand out to me?

Overall I think it's a nice name, both 'classic' names so nothing bad about it, a little plain to my taste, but many people like to stay firmly within bounds of traditional names. Both names are monosyllabic which I don't love sonically, but thats a matter of personal taste and some people love the simplicity that brings. I also think the 'G' sounds from George leading into 'J' of John sounds a little clumsy and awkward to pronouce, but that might be a me thing.

Nice but I'd assume you liked the Beatles. (I'm 47).

JumperandJacket · 15/11/2021 09:30

Nice- I love John especially. It's quite hard to say with all those Gs/Js but how often will you be saying it? (I'm assuming John will be the middle name not a double first name.)

HelloKittySkittles · 15/11/2021 09:28

Nice enough names.
I’d assume you were Beatles fans. I’m mid 40’s so didn’t grow up with their music or anything.
