Long boys names with good nicknames

Due a little boy in 6 weeks. He will be brother to James and Lyra.

We love long names with nice nicknames, and so far have

Atticus - Kit for short
Zachary - Zac
Augustus - Gus

Does anyone have any other ideas along these lines?

I thought Kit was short for Christopher, which I prefer to atticus. Maybe Kristian would also work for Kit?

Artemas is a boys name, meaning follower of Artemis. Probably a name that would be plagued with misspellings and people assuming you’ve used a incorrectly spelt girls name for your son, but i quite like it.

I knew a Thaddeus nickname Ted, which is pretty unusual.

It’s hard to control the nn as it’s hijacked by friends at school unless you call them the nn from birth

I love Benjamin (Ben) and Alexander (Alex, Lex, Xander etc). But I have a Zachary, known as Zach or Zachie. Love it.

Guy? I know one whose diminutive/ pet name is lengthened to the Italian form Guido.

@LozMarieFielder that's reminded me that I love Cassius with Cass for short!!

@SunLovingMummy Drew would be my absolute go to but bils name is Andrew and unfortunately he's a bit of a prick

Something I've heard recently is Gideon but I cannot for the life of me drag a nice nickname from that

I love Gideon too. I think Giddy is cute as a nickname, but as a permanent shortening (like Alexander to Alex) it doesn’t work. As you’re not opposed to a bit of a stretch I’ve heard Gio, Deon, Don, Eon. Not sure if any of those appeal (I actually prefer Giddy/Gid) but if you’re a nicknamey person, he’ll probably end up with something.

@Riverlee Zach, Finn and Sully are going on my list - Sully is quite close to my name though and illiterates with our surname but I do like it (my name isn't sally)
