Gentry after the Band The Gentrys

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
agnesflorence · 11/11/2021 08:24

Sounds like a barber shop not a child

AuntDympna · 11/11/2021 08:21

@NeilTheBaby

Gentry Stein is a world famous yo-yo champion. So yes it actually is a name.

One person having the name doesn't make it a name, just makes his parents as daft as OP.
KloppsTeeth · 11/11/2021 02:01

Gents for short?

Or stick to the safer Balonz.

Lockdownbear · 11/11/2021 01:54

No! Landed Gentry,

Are the band related to the country singer Bobbie Gentry?
(Ode to Billy Joe)
I suppose it's a surname, but...
what everyone else said.

LoveGrooveDanceParty · 11/11/2021 01:38

I mean …. Confused … why are you asking? What’s put it on your head as name for a human?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/11/2021 01:27

Nope, sorry to be blunt but it's not really a first name but an uncommon surname - or a word synonymous with "posh" (as in "landed gentry") so won't have positive associations for some people.

Snugglybuggly · 11/11/2021 01:23

Nooooo

Kanaloa · 11/11/2021 01:21

No it’s a word and not really a great word to begin with. People will obviously think of the actual word before a band from the 60s.

potoforchids · 10/11/2021 23:53

It's awful. And so is Salazar.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 10/11/2021 23:53

Er, that's not a name

TeeTotaller1 · 10/11/2021 23:45

Twins

Gentry & Gantry

HolidayTime2021 · 10/11/2021 23:33

Sister called Serf?

OakPine · 10/11/2021 23:32

Yeah it's a great name! Go for it!
Can I call my child "Wardrobe"
Can I call my child "Ringbinder"
Hell yes!
I know I know "Goldfish!"

Where will this end?

RalphLaurenG · 10/11/2021 23:31

Nope. 100% not.

GreenWhiteViolet · 10/11/2021 23:27

No. It's a word with an established meaning, and an incredibly weird one to use for a name. I'd wonder if Gentry had a sister named Aristocracy.

Don't use it.

TrussOnABus · 10/11/2021 23:24

Errr no

CoffeeRunner · 10/11/2021 23:20

Of course not.

mnahmnah · 10/11/2021 23:20

Nooo.

What about the name of one of the band members?

MissCruellaDeVil · 10/11/2021 23:19

Absolutely not! People on here come up with the weirdest names.

RobinPenguins · 10/11/2021 23:18

No

JennyDune · 10/11/2021 23:17

Doesnt gentry mean toilet?

"Use the gentry"
