I've heard of a Marigold that goes by Goldie and thought it was really nice. What are your thoughts on Marigold with the nickname Mary?

I see the appeal, though it’s not a name I like myself. Marigold has a fair few discussions on online forums, though this isn’t reflected in the popularity rankings. Unusual flower names (thinking beyond Poppy/Rose/Lily) and nature names are booming right now and I see a lot of love for the nickname Goldie too, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the name gained some traction over the next few years.

I really like it, I'm not sure about the nickname Mary though, I'd just use Marigold. Wasn't there one in Downton Abbey?

No. More people will be reminded of rubber gloves than flowers.
Mary isn't a "nickname" for anything, let alone Marigold. Just call her Mary.

No. Only use it if you’re naming a dairy herd.

My tortoise is called marigold. I really like it. I call her Mari for short. She doesn’t seem to have an opinion.
