Elliot or Elliott

So it's the only name we can both agree on at the moment. Not 100% sold. But can't agree on how it should be spelt. I think a double T. Husband thinks only 1.

What's the general verdict?

Looks like either way you and he will be doing some correcting, but that can happen with many names. I know a single T but then the only other I know is fictional from E.T. and TT

FourTeaFallOut · 08/11/2021 20:53

Single T team.

aimss4777 · 08/11/2021 20:52

Yep, one T. Our boys middle name is 1 T and my mum ordered multiple things with 2 T's though so be prepared incase others make the mistake! Lol

thewhatsit · 08/11/2021 20:43

Sorry, I’m also team 1 T.

lunalongbottom95 · 08/11/2021 20:15

Double L, Double T for my Elliott!
Like the symmetry of it!

LublinToDublin · 08/11/2021 19:34

Single T - sorry OP Grin

KirstyT11 · 08/11/2021 19:24

Thanks everyone.
Looks like one T is the way to go.
Hate my hubby being right 🙈🤣

One T

Kitkat151 · 08/11/2021 15:02

One t only

BoneIdleBitch · 08/11/2021 14:55

Elliot.

Crunchymum · 08/11/2021 13:42

Elliot would have been DC3's name had she been a boy (one T all the way!)

Firebird83 · 08/11/2021 13:34

Elliot

lollipopsandrainbows · 08/11/2021 08:08

We have two Elliot's at school. Both spelt differently. When referring to them in conversation my DD9 will say "the one with the TT" so I know who she's talking about. TT is traditionally used as for Elliott as a surname.

whoami24601 · 08/11/2021 08:02

We have an Elliott and I much prefer it BUT he's only 6 and I'm already sick of correcting people who spell it with 1 t. One seems to be the default (which I didn't realise when we named him!) And everywhere he goes I have to remind them. Including Every. Fucking. Year. At school 🤬 so on balance I'd say 1 t even though I prefer 2!

MrsFoxyplease · 08/11/2021 07:59

Double

Aorh · 08/11/2021 07:58

One T

Tayegete · 08/11/2021 07:52

It’s DS’s middle name but I consistently forget which way we spelt it on the birth certificate Blush. I always hope it’s single T but can’t remember whether it is.

KirstenBlest · 08/11/2021 07:45

Elliot

1WildFlower · 07/11/2021 23:54

Single t

exexpat · 07/11/2021 23:21

I would have said Eliot (like the poet) but if you look at names.darkgreener.com which has all the statistics on baby names in England and Wales, it looks like hardly anyone agrees with me that it should be Eliot. Elliot is currently slightly more popular than Elliott, it seems (693 Elliots versus 647 Elliotts born last year, but only 20 Eliots).

TheBugHouse · 07/11/2021 23:02

It is just one T

StormyCornishSeas · 07/11/2021 22:55

Double TT looks more finished somehow but that's probably just me being silly

Megan2018 · 07/11/2021 22:53

Single t would be my expectation of a first name.

SpookyPumpkinPants · 07/11/2021 22:51

SIngle t

BaggiesBride · 07/11/2021 22:50

I have an Elliot, he's one "T"
