Tho it has a certain Scandi chic, it looks like a misspelling of Alex -- so it doesn't quite work in English. Well, not unless you're a Guns N Roses fan or a motor mechanic.

The only famous Axel is Axel Rose from Guns and Roses. He raped a 14 year old girl and got away with it.
He also has a track record in domestic violence against women.
