Fallen in love with this for baby girl. Have changed my mind weekly though 🙈

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DukkaDukka · 06/11/2021 17:46

Love Clara. I really don’t like Enid.

AnyaMoondial · 06/11/2021 17:43

I really like it.

I also recommend Agnes, Agatha and Millicent. All brilliant names.

BiscuitLover09876 · 06/11/2021 17:32

I like Enid. You don't hear it very often and I was a big fan of the worst witch.

TempsPerdu · 06/11/2021 17:13

Just searched Enid on Nameberry and it also suggested these as similar in style:

Sybil
Alma
Agnes
Agatha
Isolde
Edith
Ethel

Maud
Winifred

(Not personally keen on those though other than maybe Isolde).

TempsPerdu · 06/11/2021 17:00

@Clementineapples DD is Greta. Other vintage names we considered were Frida, Sylvia, Honor, Hazel, Vita and Flora.

We wanted fairly unusual but not weird, strong rather than cutesy/frilly, straightforward to say and spell, and ideally vaguely international.

Not fussed about a name being harsh-sounding, but I’m personally not keen on the -id sound in Enid and to me it says Blyton/Hey Duggee cat/Mildred Hubble’s friend from The Worst Witch. Smile

Goldbar · 06/11/2021 16:20

Not a fan. How about Eliza, Jean or Annis?

dannydyerismydad · 06/11/2021 16:05

Every Enid I have known has been sweet, gentle and absolutely delightful. But I've never met a tiny one.

Onlinedilema · 06/11/2021 15:59

I love it.

ladygindiva · 06/11/2021 15:52

I know a newborn Ena, which I think is lovely and similar?

sageandbasil · 06/11/2021 15:51

I think it's a great name

BeefSupreme · 06/11/2021 15:49

Are you a fan of “Ghost World”, op?

but I mostly cook boys
Hmm

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 06/11/2021 15:49

I love Enid

It was on my list for baby number three (we had a boy)

Piggy42 · 06/11/2021 15:47

I like Clara, Lydia, Esther. I really think Enid isn’t due for a comeback!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 06/11/2021 15:47

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches

What is going on here today!

Enid, Myrtle, and Horace.

beat me to it

and a Velvet Dune yesterday 🤨

moocow123 · 06/11/2021 15:47

I hate the name but maybe that's just because I know someone called it?

It's my friends Mum who is about 700 years old and she's absolutely doolally.

It's a no from me.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/11/2021 15:45

@DedalusBloom

Clara is lovely. Wren is going to be so common in a few years - also wrens are tiny delicate birds. Will it fit her if she's a strapping lass? For the same kind of reason I always think it's a risk with Joy, Faith, Charity, Hope etc Grin
Yeah, Wren sounds cool now but I suspect it will go the way of Gail.
BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/11/2021 15:44

Almost every suggestion on this thread is awful!

AudTheDeepMinded · 06/11/2021 15:44

Enid is lovely. I had three boys so I have a wealth of unused girls names:
Martha
Nancy
Pearl
Nina
Cordelia
Dorothea
Nora

SommerTen · 06/11/2021 15:41

Enid Blyton.

I don't like Edna either.
Anyone remember Evil Edna from Will O' The Wisp??

Insomniacexpress · 06/11/2021 15:39

@saraclara I came here to write exactly the same thing. Enid will always be the cheeky cat from Hey Duggee.

Lydia would be nice

Amdone123 · 06/11/2021 15:39

Love that Welsh pronunciation. But no to Enid pronounced the other way. Reminds me of Vera or Hilda. Just no.
Love Edie.
Elodie.
Martha.
Esme.

Love Clara, unsure about Wren.

amylou8 · 06/11/2021 15:38

I love it. Judging by the response on here it's a bit marmite.

saraclara · 06/11/2021 15:36

I just think of Duggee's cat these days. My next cat might be Enid!

(I wouldn't give the name to a child though)

AuntieStella · 06/11/2021 15:36

I think Enid is old fashioned in the wrong sort of way - frumpy

How about Edith, Ethel, Charlotte/Lottie, Hilda, Nelly, Margaret (if you like any of the many nicknames), Gloria, Beulah, Pauline/Paula, Gladys

Theuniverseandeverything · 06/11/2021 15:34

It’s really bad. I don’t like Edith or Edna either.
