I like it, DH is unconvinced.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheGreenManIsFlashing · 06/11/2021 19:36

Bunch of meanies, that's what you are.

Horatios/Horaces are fab.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/11/2021 19:33

Christ, should have caught up. Horacio is even worse.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/11/2021 19:31

Bloody love Horace! Was my Granddads name! To be honest never considered it properly should have gone for it with my DS.“

Bloody love Maud too because it was my granny’s name.
Hell would have frozen over though before I’d have inflicted it on a child.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 06/11/2021 18:38

Utter shite OP. Haud yersel' back!

Horus, the ancient Egyptian God?

MysticCT · 06/11/2021 18:34

It's strange, as the ones I knew lived together as well, in the same house they'd lived in all their lives.
I suppose it was probably common to do that in those days.

13amielsaoranna · 06/11/2021 18:16

Thanks Mystic,
I knew 2 bachelor brothers who lived together called Horace and Cecil, who would indeed be over 100 if they were alive, thought it might be same ones considering they arent common names.

Spidey66 · 06/11/2021 17:50

@MilduraS

Not for a baby boy. It was on my list of names for my new cat.
I nearly said great pet name!
Spidey66 · 06/11/2021 17:49

No, sorry, its an awful name.

MysticCT · 06/11/2021 17:47

@13amielsaoranna

13:15MysticCT Did one of these brothers have a motorbike and lived in town beginning with L
Sorry, no they didn't. The town began with H and they kept chickens.

TheGreenManIsFlashing · 06/11/2021 17:12

Nice to see my child's name getting such a slating.

It only makes me love it more. Grin

FatBettyintheCoop · 06/11/2021 16:07

I think it’s a fab name because the Horace I knew was a genuine WW2 war hero (used his engineering skills to invent secret stuff) and an incredibly amazing wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather.

People were still writing about his many exploits when he was in his 90’s as he was a cycling enthusiast, still drove a car and was involved in several community projects. He always had a big smile and a twinkle in his eyes. He sadly died just a few days short of his 101st birthday. Sad

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 06/11/2021 16:05

Maybe in time. It's not a bad name but it'll take another few generations before it'll come back.

BluebellsareBlue · 06/11/2021 16:03

Oh Jesus that's awful! Surely you don't think this is actually a nice name?!? I think this is getting on the band wagon of old names are trendy and your failing miserably at it

Onlinedilema · 06/11/2021 15:57

I wouldn't use it.
How about Hugo?

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 06/11/2021 15:54

I think it’s cute but can understand why others would hate it.

He could go by Harry?

sageandbasil · 06/11/2021 15:52

Not a fan. Do you like Hector?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/11/2021 15:33

Horace/Horatio are both awful! Hugo isn’t great either.

Penguinsmum · 06/11/2021 15:32

I love it. Unusual without being odd imo.

Bellfor · 06/11/2021 15:26

@EnidFrighten

I kind of like it but I guess it's a bad name for an introvert

I think Maurice is due a comeback too

Ooooo I like Maurice!

Timeforwinterclothes · 06/11/2021 15:22

A relative of mine was named Horace. It was because they thought it would please Uncle Horace and he would leave my relative all his money. Little did they know that Uncle had secret children. My relative was never ever called by this name as it was considered so hideous and this was over a hundred years ago. He used his second name which luckily was fine. He had a lifetime of embarrassment though.

TheCreamCaker · 06/11/2021 15:18

It's awful, sorry

Shasha17 · 06/11/2021 15:16

I think it might be one of the ugliest names I've ever seen suggested on here Grin sorry OP. A baby Horace will be born wearing a flatcap and a dirty green farmers jacket, with a huge beerbelly, long nose hair, and an unpleasant unwashed smell.

HBomberGal · 06/11/2021 15:13

Ah would you stop OP Grin That's a funny joke, saddling a lovely baby with a dreadful name.
