I really like words that have “ts” sound in them, like tsunami, any ideas for names?

Not quite the same, but Natsuki or Satsuki.

My cousin is called Betsan - I think it's very pretty.

Tsivia is a Hebrew girls name

BakeOffRewatch · 04/11/2021 20:20

Ok wow did not see this coming, I think it a completely reasonable request, albeit uncommon in UK, hence why I made the thread. It would be middle name material for us, but no reason why it couldn’t be first name. This thread is almost as bad as the Bohden thread I read, which is a perfectly common name in a few different languages!

I’ve met a Moritz (German) and a Tatsuya (Japanese) before and really like it. I’ve always loved “z” words in German which are pronounced with an edge like “ts”.

I love the Hebrew name Tsila, it means shade from an initial google, thank you @OrangeAndYellowAndBlue!

Or

All of these names are uncommon in Japanese.

Betsy
Betsan

Apparently there is a Hebrew name Tsila or Tzila.

Searching gives quite a lot of Bulgarian names. Apparently Ralitsa is a name meaning "larkspur", that's quite nice.

I know someone called Tsuru, but the T is largely silent

The T in tsunami isn't silent, it's a normal sound in Japanese.
What sort of name were you thinking about OP? Like Betsy, or something starting with Ts? In which case the poor child will spend their entire life spelling it out.

You're welcome t00tsie - appropriate username!

Or, not quite the same, but Fritz.

MrsFin · 04/11/2021 17:46

@Winecheesesleep

The T in tsunami is silent isn't it? Unless I've been mispronouncing it.

I don't think it is silent. I say the T anyway.
