this is a name that I have recently fallen in love with after a hearing a mum shout her little girl Honey in the park...

I'm honestly obsessed with it and love it!! What do you all think x

Must clarify I was a stripper for about 17 years and never met ONE 'Honey' Grin .

All of the other reasons though op, nope. Imagine her as any given non-sexualised career. Have it as a nickname or middle name even but not as her actual name.

Personally I’d find it embarrassing either to be called it or to have to refer to either a child or a grown adult by the name. May as well name her darling or luvvie.

Sorry but what is the point of giving a name that means something else, If only you - the parent- know that it means that?

"Call her Sarah it means honey"- err, nobody else is going to catch on unless she goes around telling everyone "guess what, my name means honey"

If you like honey use it, else choose the next on the list. None of this "her name means X in ancient aztec"

I call mine Honey everyday. I also call my 4 nieces Honey whenever I see them.

None of them have that on their BCs though and I also call them by their proper names.

It's not a name for an adult or even a school child. More suited to a porn star or soap character. Don't do it.

I love it. Mel/Melissa mean honey and I much prefer it to those.

Anyway, I wouldn't choose but I was at school with a girl called Honey and she was very cool.

My (Italian) rescue dog was called Miele (me-yell-eh - Italian pronunciation ) and changed it to Honey as it was a right bugger to shout. English version is a great name for a dog.

I know a Honey. Really suited her when she was little but she's now 14 and hates it. I also know a Teddy in a very similar position. But you can call your child what you like, unusual names are always highly contentious on MN.

Honey in French = Miel. Pronounced Mee el
Honey in Italian = Miele. Pronounced Mee ay lay

Miele, German brand name = Mee luh

It's sweet in an infantalising way.

Give her a proper name and a proper chance to become a proper adult.

Call her honey at home when you want to, then Catherine or whatever the rest of the time.

There is definitely something a bit pervy about a young child named honey. Sorry OP, but you did ask...

I have a similar name too honey and I'm 25 with a great career and have lived a completely normal life with most people not caring at all about my name. Stop pretending that someone's name makes that big of an impact on their lives

You can tell yourself that’s the case, but it doesn’t make it true.

Disliking Honey has zero correlation with only liking over-used popular names.

I know an 18 year old Honey. Her siblings have lovely names but I don't love Honey. It's just insubstantial to me. She doesn't really suit it either.
I would say mee - AY - lay for Miele.
Melissa is a bit dated but she'd definitely be the only one in her class I should think. Whereas I can imagine another Honey in a class quite easily!
