Fee-Or if you live near my mum in Salford.

Boofay · 29/10/2021 20:26

@Tiramiwho

It's Greek. Tay- ah 100%

That's very much not how the Greeks pronounce Thea.

It's spelled θεά - θ-th, ε-eh, ά-ah
The ε is a short sound and emphasis on the α, so The-ah.

MrsBucketsPony · 29/10/2021 20:24

A lot of people my way would say Fee-a

Creepypastard · 29/10/2021 20:24

@EvilEdna1

Fee-a because I am from North London.
Grin We'd say Fey-arr (South)
Clementineapples · 29/10/2021 20:23

Thee ah. Feminine Theo - Theodora

MaggieFS · 29/10/2021 20:19

Th ee a

When I see thee-a, I'm thinking people might mean the same but I read that as thee as in the hymn I vow to thee my country which brings a whole new option!

AppleButter · 29/10/2021 20:18

Tey-a

Motherland101 · 29/10/2021 20:18

@TheGriffle

Like the first half of Theatre

This

ShellieEllie · 29/10/2021 20:17

Th, as in thing... ea as in ear

SparklyGlasses · 29/10/2021 20:16

Thee-ah. I knew a tay-ah spelt Thea but had an accent over the e.

Tiramiwho · 29/10/2021 20:16

It's Greek. Tay- ah 100%

Saisong · 29/10/2021 20:13

I'd say th-ee-ah, but tbh it seems to be mostly pronounced Fee-ah around here. When DS had a party the door person had written a Fia on the attendance list - took me embarrassingly long time to work out it was Thea!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 29/10/2021 20:12

Tea - ah

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 29/10/2021 20:11

Theatre without the tor

Yiayoula · 29/10/2021 20:11

Stree ? Stress !

DaisyWaldron · 29/10/2021 20:10

Either Theea or Taya.

Yiayoula · 29/10/2021 20:10

Thay- ah, with the stree on the first syllable.

Boofay · 29/10/2021 20:10

I have a Thea.

It's a Greek name. In ancient Greek it means goddess, modern Greek it means aunt, thia.

It's pronounced Theeea.

PricklesTheHedgehog · 29/10/2021 20:09

I've only known one Thea and her name was pronounced Tay-a.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 29/10/2021 20:06

Fee-a because I am from North London Grin

EvilEdna1 · 29/10/2021 20:04

Fee-a because I am from North London.

ParmigianoReggiano · 29/10/2021 20:04

Tee-ah

ozymandiusking · 29/10/2021 20:02

Put it into Google, and it brings up the sound of how it's pronounced.
Anyway it's Thea, like one poster said, like the beginning of Theatre.
Which sounds fine. anything else is odd.

HereWeGoAgains · 29/10/2021 20:02

Like Theo, but with an ‘a’. Th-ee-a

MayLeaveADentInYourSofa · 29/10/2021 19:58

Tee-a
