Have you heard any recently that have made you do a double take? I know of two baby Jason's born in the last two years, the first of which I found very unusual, the second of which is making me think this is maybe coming back in vogue and I'm behind the times?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Nathan is fairly standard I think, I know a few little ones. It was on my shortlist.

I also have taught a few young (4 or 5 year old) Patricks in the past so don't think of that as surprising, although actually the last was over 12 years ago so maybe it's less common now.

Like a pp said, after teaching for a lot of years there's not much surprises me now.

I heard a child being called Sunbeam today. The mum shouted it twice, to get their attention. That made me do a double take.

Bonnytoon · 15/10/2021 21:10

Daniel.
I know plenty my own age, but haven't taught a single one in the past 10 years.

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 15/10/2021 21:10

Stephen.

Nothing wrong with it. Just not what you expect a little boy to be called these days.

RavenclawsRoar · 15/10/2021 21:06

@meadowbleu can't work out if it's a genius plan or super confusing - I'm always saying the wrong name so I guess if we all had the same one it would make life easier Grin

CocaColaTruck1 · 15/10/2021 21:06

Patrick
3 month old baby.
He was gorgeous and actually really suited it

noblegreenk · 15/10/2021 21:05

@sarah13xx

I know a 4 month old called Nathan and found it quite surprising, sounds like an adult name
Nathan was on my shortlist of boys names, but we had a girl. I love it. We'd have shortened to Nate as a nickname.

Turns out I’d misheard and it was actually Kian though

Fenton did it for me. He was on a school trip and I did wonder if the teacher was having a laugh.

'Fenton! FENTON! Come here!'

PinkPrawns2 · 15/10/2021 20:20

Bixby and Bison (as in the animal)

IggyAce · 15/10/2021 20:16

I work in a school and in recent years the only name I’ve done a double take at was Alan, I think of it as a name for someone my dads age.

Mrsfrumble · 15/10/2021 20:10

I know a 5 year old Jason. It’s a lovely, classic name that deserves a proper comeback.
