I have posted once before, but we are now just days away from our little one arriving & we have our ‘short list’ which we are hoping to get shorter & shorter for when the big day arrives. Any thoughts or opinions would be welcome!

Lottie, Tilly, Elsie, Ava, Daisy, Indie, Mae

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Luredbyapomegranate · 13/11/2021 17:09

May if you spell it like that, not too common as a first name
Otherwise Ava - lovely but lots of them
Of the cutesy ones Daisy is best
Lottie, Tilly, Elsie are just OTT cutesy as full names. Indie is just made up and silly.

Chickoletta · 13/11/2021 15:02

If DS was a girl, we were going to call her Elizabeth, known as Elsie. Love that name very much.

All your choices are solid, traditional names which wouldn’t raise my eyebrows as a teacher!

MadeOfStarStuff · 13/11/2021 14:59

Aw sorry missed the update, congratulations on your new DD, I’m glad you found a name you love and that suits her

MadeOfStarStuff · 13/11/2021 14:58

Lottie is my favourite but I would use it as a diminutive for Charlotte

The others are all ok, but I’m not a fan of Mae, especially spelled that way

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 13/11/2021 09:28

Ah sorry, missed update Blush Congratulations op Flowers

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 13/11/2021 09:27

Daisy definitely! By miles.

The others I think will date horribly.

LozMarieFielder · 13/11/2021 09:26

Oops didn’t realise you had posted above me. Congratulations!

LozMarieFielder · 13/11/2021 09:25

All are so nice, my favourite being Indie.

BeKindBeYou · 13/11/2021 06:54

Thanks so much for all the feedback!! She’s here now, and she suits her name perfectly! I’m not going to say which one due to possible identification reasons. Thank you again

Those are the kind of names I like. Of those Indie is my favourite

manhattenrain · 05/10/2021 13:09

In order from favourite to least favourite:
Indie
Ava
Tilly
Daisy
Mae
Lottie
Elsie

Indie Mae would be lovely.Smile

KirstenBlest · 05/10/2021 09:29

Lottie - nice if short for Charlotte
Tilly - like a cash register?
Elsie -- not keen but it's ok
Ava - dislike and it's been overused
Daisy - fine
Indie - national newspaper
Mae - ugly spelling of a meh name

Poppypops123 · 05/10/2021 08:36

My little one is Ava Rose I picked it from 20 weeks and never changed it.

Ava Ray I also like.

My next favourite is daisy

TheSpiral · 05/10/2021 08:30

Love Elsie
Then Daisy
Then Lottie but really prefer as short for Charlotte
Then Mae
Not massively keen on Indie, Tilly, they feel like there is something missing, and not a fan of Ava.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 05/10/2021 08:29

I like
Lottie
Ava
Tilly
The others I really don't and I'd definitely cross Mae off the list. If you must use it I'd recommend May.

EdgeOfTheSky · 05/10/2021 08:25

I know an adult Lotte.

Great name.

Lostmyway86 · 05/10/2021 08:04

I chose Lottie because I know a couple of adults with the name and love it. I never thought of it as a baby name and not suitable for adults! I chose Charlotte as the longer form because I love it equally and she can choose when she's older, but I definitely don't agree with those who think these names are just for children.

EdgeOfTheSky · 05/10/2021 07:20

Lottie
Tilly
Daisy

All v good.

urbanbuddha · 05/10/2021 07:16

Ava
Daisy
Mae
are fine as stand alone names. Mae is also a great second name

Matilda (love this with Mae)
Charlotte
India
are fine too and can be shortened

I don't like Elsie.

Agelikeafinebottleofblacktower · 05/10/2021 07:12

I think people forget that a lot of adult women will have these names already. I know a grown up Lottie, Daisy, Maisie, Elsie, Ruby and at no point do I think of them as little girls, you are your name! If people meet you as an adult I don't understand why people would think of your name as childish.

driftcompatible · 05/10/2021 07:08

@BlueMoon23

Daisy. Use Mae as a middle name
Mae as a middle name is so over used. I know so many children with Mae as a middle name it is actually annoying.

Abbie Mae
Ellie Mae
Evie Mae
Lilly Mae
Rosie Mae

Eugh. It's such a wet combination and screams lack of imagination and creativity.

trama · 05/10/2021 06:59

Remember you're naming an adult woman, not just a baby or toddler. I would go for Ava, or Charlotte which you can shorten to Lottie if you insist. Perhaps India nn Indie.

Beamur · 05/10/2021 06:53

They are all sweet, but I wouldn't use a nickname/contraction on its own, I would use the full name (Charlotte, Matilda) but call them the shortened version.
Mae and Ava are good middle names
Personally I like Ava best of all of your names and yes, it is popular.

AnyaMoondial · 05/10/2021 06:44

Daisy and Ava are my favourites.

ChipsNCurry · 05/10/2021 06:27

They all sound too cutesy for me- fine for a toddler but not for an adult woman.

Ava is the only one I think would suit an adult so I'd pick that one. Or as pps suggested, use the full name of some of the others like Matilda or India.
