Which do you think of as the 'normal' spelling? Husband and I don't agree!

I think Isabelle has become the ‘norm’ though in my mind, Isobel is more classic?

Isobel is lovely

I also find Isabelle a bit frilly but husband thinks Isobel is 'Ice o bel' too! Perhaps Isabel would be the best compromise thanks ladies!

In England and Wales Isabelle is the 28th most popular name, Isabel is 142, and Isobel is 151. Personally I prefer Isobel, but if you want the most common spelling it’s Isabelle by a long way.

They are pronounced differently I prefer Isobel
Are they?
DuneFan · 04/10/2021 13:50

I prefer Isobel.

You could compromise on Isabel or Isobelle? Both are standard alternatives.

Frazzledd · 04/10/2021 13:49

I can't read Isobel without saying 'ice-o-bell' in my head- personally prefer Isabelle, pretty name

PeskyRooks · 04/10/2021 13:47

Both are normal spellings really. I prefer Isobel, less frilly.
