What's people's thoughts on the name Quinn? Do you think boy or girl?

I like it too for a boy but it does make me think of the female Glee character. I think it’s a truly unisex name.

MindyStClaire · 30/09/2021 20:14

Supermarket.

DappledThings · 30/09/2021 20:04

I also think quim. Same reason I could never have had a Quinny buggy. Makes me snigger whenever I see one.

Not keen, friend's 5 year old Grandson is Quinn.

TatianaBis · 30/09/2021 14:31

Joan Didion's DD was called Quintana Roo after an area of Mexico they loved.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 30/09/2021 12:29

Love it for a boy. Dislike it for a girl. It’s definitely a boy’s name in my view.

Blubells · 30/09/2021 12:24

Quinn (like Finn or Flynn) or Quentin for a boy

Quinne or Quintina for a girl.

I like it and would think girl as it's only a girl that I know with this name.

I don't generally agree with the MN hatred for surnames as first names though, I think they can be really nice (and it's very commonplace here in Scotland)

peaceinourtime · 30/09/2021 09:38

Very Bold and the Beautiful. I think its a unisex name largely.

moofolk · 30/09/2021 09:16

Unisex and I like it

hauntedvagina · 30/09/2021 09:05

Girls name, first one that springs to mind is Barney's stripper girlfriend in How I Met Your Mother.

@Blubells

I've never heard of quim - do children nowadays really use this expression ?
They probably didn't but then Loki used it as an insult in Avengers Assemble, "mewling quim" to be precise and my primary aged child and all his friends were introduced to it as a term.
SeanChailleach · 30/09/2021 09:00

Super name.
Quinn is an Irish given name from "cuing" meaning "champion".
I love it as a boy's name and like the idea of spelling it Quinne for a girl.
Cuinche is a rare Early Irish given name for a girl. Pronounced "Quinya" with a h snuck in there along with the consonantal y.

Warmduscher · 30/09/2021 08:50

Surname or dog’s name.

I only know boys called Quinn. It's strong sounding like Finn or Flynn.

I think it's also a popular nickname for Quentin

CornishTiger · 30/09/2021 04:57

@mnahmnah

We nearly used Quinn for our boy. Have you heard the Bob Dylan song ‘Quinn the Eskimo’? Love it. Make sure it’s his version though!
Yes this!!! Mighty Quinn.
CornishTiger · 30/09/2021 04:56

We have a Quinn. It seemed more socially acceptable than calling him no 5. Only joking. We love it. Tbh most people do we know.

I also know a girl Quinn and another male Quinn.

You’ll get it mistaken for Finn lots.

Balonzette · 30/09/2021 04:52

I know a boy and girl Quinn. I think I like it.

virginpinkmartini · 30/09/2021 03:33

There's a girl in my sons class with her name spelled 'Quinne'. I think it's lovely!

romdowa · 30/09/2021 03:04

It's unisex because it's a surname, not a first name.

manhattenrain · 30/09/2021 03:01

I love it for a girl. I'd go with Quinton for a boy.Smile

Kanaloa · 30/09/2021 02:53

I also think girl because of Glee. I’ve never met or heard of another Quinn as a first name. I don’t really like it, it’s not my taste.

hullaballoo19 · 30/09/2021 00:02

I love Quinn for a girl 😊

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 29/09/2021 23:50

I'd say unisex. That was one of the reasons we chose it for one of our Baby's because we never knew the sex
