Anyone seen this? Entertaining list. Poor George, not sure he deserves to be there.

I like Alice, Arthur, George, John and Simon. I don't see anything that bad about Arabella, Mia, Arlo and Dennis. And I kind of like Geoffrey, while recognising that it would still probably seem too dated for a baby now.

George is my sons middle name. The sun said peppa pig had ruined it

RobinPenguins · 01/10/2021 19:33

Did someone get paid to write that?

LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 01/10/2021 19:29

@Chunkymenrock

Nigel is hardly a 40 year old. More like 50-65 years old. The list sounds like it was written by a 13 year old. Load of rubbish.
I used to work with a couple of Nigels who would both be around 43 Now
Noogar · 01/10/2021 18:29

Nasty article

Mine and my twin sister's on there - we're Phelony and Inspektor, of course Grin

manhattenrain · 01/10/2021 03:46

Quite a few lovely names on that list.

bridgeofslides · 30/09/2021 22:52

I like the name Doyle

LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 30/09/2021 21:45

Nevaeh Why is this name spelt nothing like it is pronounced?

I bet the writer thinks this is niamh.

ReeseWitherfork · 30/09/2021 21:37

Neveah = heaven backwards. That's what makes it awful.

Also “Ahmiracle” used for 800 babies a year? Wonder where! Grin

PyjamaMamma · 30/09/2021 21:19

@CoffeeRunner

So how do you pronounce Nevaeh?

The comment about it not being pronounced the way it's spelled confused me Confused.

I only encountered this name in the wild once, and it was pronounced something like Nevaya.

I thought it was nah - vey - ah but I might be wrong

Half of these names are completely normal, the others are obviously made up. I’m a bit gutted I didn’t see this article before naming DD though otherwise I’d have called her Boomquifa Elizabreath

MirandaBlu · 30/09/2021 20:59

Only got through "Emmi" and stopped reading. Some of these names are ridic and complletely made up (or obvious mistakes), others totally normal. Based on the comments on the traditional names she disses, the author seems to be oddly monolingual and monocultural.

NeedEducating · 30/09/2021 14:43

Oh no my baby's name is on there BlushGrin

LadyCarolineDester · 30/09/2021 14:41

It’s embarrassingly bad, isn’t it?

The writer is obviously either stupid or really young, so let’s be kind and assume it was a kid on work experience.

ReeseWitherfork · 30/09/2021 12:07

Well I was entertained by it! It was indeed mean spirited, but being judgey about baby names is hardly unusual. I bet the article got a lot of clicks.

I can't agree with them with George, Skye or Louis because I don't watch Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol or the X Factor. They do make a point about Mia though.

Ugochukwu is a name that gets shorted to Ugo. The article mentioned the shorting of Ygo for Hugo but there are spellings of Hugo.

Purplemoon26 · 30/09/2021 09:40

How pathetic. Embarrassed for whoever wrote it. Not entertaining at all and lots of perfectly nice names on there.

DillonPanthersTexas · 30/09/2021 09:32

It's a throw away piss take article, nothing wrong with quite a few of the 'traditional' names on there, there are some howlers on that list though.

tickledtiger · 30/09/2021 09:26

This is a wind up article. Lots of normal names with a vague unfortunate connotation mixed in with the likes of “Adolf” etc.

Not just saying that because my DD’s name rapidly appeared on the list, lol

SethWho · 30/09/2021 06:48

Found it strangley dated- with references to Louis Walsh and North West.
