Just a fun thread! what's your favourite name after a country or city?

mine would most likely be Florence, Dallas, Dakota or Adelaide for a little girl 💕

or..

Mason, Hudson, Orlando or Phoenix for a little boy 💙

@AdaColeman, not the first abbreviation I thought of.Grin

Preston

I like Scunthorpe for a boy, Scun would be a smashing nickname!

Adelaide is an actual female name. Along with some of the others mentioned on this thread, I have also heard of Tokyo as a place/male name.

Nairobi, Tokyo, Berlin, Denver, Helsinki, Moscow, Stockholm, Rio, Lisbon, Bogotá, Palermo, Cincinnati — hello, fellow Money Heist fans.

Indiana is lovely

5BlackDoors · 29/09/2021 15:57

@RuthW

My dd is Florence. When she was 7, her table at school was her, Georgia, Paris and Devon.
I know a Devon. Her parents claim they named all their children after where they were conceived.

Thus ruining the names for the poor children for ever. Hmm

Devon is a lovely name though IMO.

My BF has an Indiana. It really suits her.

Topanga
Oh I learnt something new cos Topanga only ever meant Topange Lawrence to me!

Quintana Roo. Joan Didion's daughter.

@bigginswiggins

But which came first place name or person name?

E.g. Orlando was a person name first (was in Shakespeare).
Ditto Adelaide.

Names after places: Frances/Francis/Francesca.

Even older than Shakespeare, it's the Italian version of Roland.
AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 28/09/2021 19:36

Uruguay (for a boy).

ISpyCobraKai · 28/09/2021 19:33

North-Korea is my favourite.

I'm also a big fan of K2.

Happenchance · 28/09/2021 19:31

Topanga

I also like the boy names of Harris & Lewis... but don't think they would make a good sibling pair.

GloomAndDoom · 28/09/2021 19:22

Chelsea. Don't think that counts sorry.
Or Alberta

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 28/09/2021 19:22

I quite like Firenze for a boy. Good job I'm not planning any more children, as I don't think he would thank me for it.

My eldest is named after an Island.

StarryStarrySocks · 28/09/2021 18:37

Oh sorry, mine are not cities/countries, just places. Must learn to read properly. Blush
