Just want to get thoughts from women who don't know me...

May was my grandmother's middle name so that's a definite.

I really like the name Artemis but it seems so grown up and old so I'm thinking Misty for a nickname.

Does Misty May sound too cutesy?

Misty is a great name but no way paired with May. And agree with the Mae comments. If you’re going to use Misty she’ll need a nice strong middle name. Misty Alexandra, Misty Olive or Olivia etc etc

Artemis Is absolutely fabulous I love it!!!
I would use Artie as a nn personally as i think Misty is a bit of a stripper name.

Artemis May is super cool. I’m less keen on Misty May but can’t quite pinpoint why. Arty as a nickname could be cute?

I like Roselia mentioned up thread. Also recently met a baby called Meloetta, but shortened to Etta which I thought was beautiful.

I like Artemis.
Misty is an anime Pokémon character in my life and quite twee, so I wouldn't use that.

I know a lovely Greek lady named Artemis. Her family call her Temi (tee-me) which I think is brilliant

Misty Mae Fox is a gorgeous name.

It’s your choice to name your baby whatever you like. I see teens with all sorts of unusual names but they really do not hinder their life choices and no-one judges.
I remember Jamie and Jools Oliver getting slated for naming their daughter Petal. Such a beautiful name though and she’s grown up so pretty and no one judges anymore.

Misty May Fox doesn't work. On many levels, all of which have already been said.

Artemis Fox is very cool and very interesting.

And with a less wet, overdone middle name it would also sound good. Artemis Eliza Fox, for example. Just anything other than May/Mae.

On the one hand, it sounds utterly ridiculous, but then I’m also wondering if you’d ever hear the nickname and middle name together? Surely any time the middle name is used, it’s with the full first name?

I know a Misty Maeve. Her parents are very down to earth and cool. I think it's a cool name.

I know a little girl called Artemis, middle name Cuno (apparently it's German). She's known as Arty for short, but I've never heard anyone call her Arty Cuno. Like a pp said, no-one will use her nickname with her middle name so it won't be a problem.

Please don’t name your child Misty Fox. You’ll need to be careful to avoid the “foxy” connection there. Easy to get the stripper connotations with Misty/Missy/Miss Fox. Arty would be ok in that regard but still - Arty Fox? Sounds like a character from a CBeebies thing.

Tallulah May Fox is fantastic, but maybe more for a fictional character. I like Roselia May, Amelia May, Talia May, but Misty seems a better name for a cat or a dog than a baby to me.

If you want to call her Artemis - call her Artemis. Likewise Misty (sounds like a horse to me)

Don't try and preplan the nickname. Meet her. Love her. The nickname will come organically or not at all.

Artemis May Fox = excellent name. That will take her anywhere in life in any profession.

For shortenings my preference in order would be
Arty
Temmy
Missy
Misty

Not so keen on Misty but it’s perfectly fine, just personal preference and Misty Fox a bit…not sure just not my taste
