Hello i am struggling with choosing a name for my baby girl.
I like elegant, classic names but nothing that is too popular / overused.
Her brother is Noah so i'd like to choose a name that flows nicely with this. Any inspo is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Speaking as a teacher - it can't be done, unless you stick with names that would happily have been given to a Plantagenet monarch, & have absolutely no subsequent variations.

My teenage dds respectively have:

  1. a classic, & at the time unpopular, name that still isn't exactly trendy, but there's at least two young actresses with basically the same name, but two completely different pronunciations & spellings, meaning that dd1, who has the more traditional version has to specify both frequently because it's often read as 'oh like ?'. One of the celebrities spells it differently & one pronounces it differently.

& 2) an even more old fashioned name that subsequently exploded in popularity - so there aren't that many teenagers with dd2's name, but you can't move for toddlers with it. Which is fine, but we went for a rather old fashioned spelling as a polite nod to an elderly relative, not expecting this to be an issue because it was very much not a cool name at the time.

It's absolutely fine - both girls use shortened forms day to day anyway. But if there's one thing it's taught me, it's that there's no point worrying - the names will attach themselves to the dc & the world will carry on turning.

Choose names you like & have done with it!

April and Honor or already mentioned are great!

Also;

  • Helena
  • Louisa
  • Carolina
  • Annabel

(think I also have a thing about names ending in a!)

For "elegant" maybe consider Shakespearean or some Latin/Greek names - although Noah is very popular and Biblical besides so perhaps something similar like Elizabeth, Anna/Hannah, Abigail, Martha, Sarah/Sara, Delilah, Phoebe, Eve, Chloe etc might work better if you care about them matching/flowing nicely? Otherwise:

Julia (also Biblical)
Lydia (ditto)
Claudia (ditto)
Celia/Cecilia
Helena
Louisa
Emilia
Jessica
Beatrice
Imogen
Rosalind
