Hi all

Not looking for opinions on the name, just a sense of how popular Toby is in your area and the age of those children with the name. For example are there several babies called Toby that you know or several children called Toby in your DC's nursery/class at school?

Thanks in advance Smile

It's not about not liking your opinion!

Obviously you didn't like my opinion 😂 but yeah it's not too popular but still wet and twee.

I know one human Toby. He's about eight.

However one my cats is also called Toby. He's one Grin

Kanaloa · 29/09/2021 07:08

I don’t know any Tobys. Don’t know why, it’s a lovely name! Can’t even think of many on tv except a little boy who used to be on the new Tracy beaker.

Whinge · 29/09/2021 07:06

I know of 1 Tobias who is nursery aged, and there's only one Toby in the primary school I work in. It's a great name, easy to spell, pronounce and well known without being popular.

Thanks @Navian however you obviously missed the first part of my post!

Wet and twee.

phantomgirl22 · 27/09/2021 21:56

I only know adult Tobys.

AgnesNaismith · 27/09/2021 19:41

I don’t know any - but that’s what I would have called one of my children were they a boy!

trumpisagit · 27/09/2021 19:39

The names popularity list I just looked at had it at no 41, below Jaxon and Reuben.
I don't know/have never met any Jaxons or Reubens, but I also don't know many babies.

Colinthecaterpillar35 · 27/09/2021 18:41

Thanks everyone Smile not quite as popular as I first thought (which is good in my opinion!). He may get mistaken for a dog but I can live with that!!

We have a girl tobi at our school but no boys

Blubells · 27/09/2021 16:48

I know lots of Tobys aged 5-10 as well as many dogs!

Tigger85 · 27/09/2021 16:48

The only Toby I have ever known was a boy I went to primary school with, he will be mid 30s now.

DrillHammerChisel · 27/09/2021 16:28

I know one Tobias aged 11, one Toby aged 6 and many dogs of varying ages called Toby!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/09/2021 16:24

Forgot to add that the Tobias is nearly 12.

Ozberry · 27/09/2021 16:24

I love the name Toby. I know one who is my age, so mid 40s and another the same age as DS19.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/09/2021 16:24

One Tobias and one dog.

r0ck · 27/09/2021 16:22

I know of two in my son's year and one in a younger year but there are certainly other names which I hear a lot more so I wouldn't call it unusually popular.

IVflytrap · 27/09/2021 16:19

I only know one, who's about one now. Quite surprising because it's such a nice name (sorry I know you didn't want opinions Grin)

spiderlight · 27/09/2021 15:51

I only know one - he's 14.

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 27/09/2021 14:37

I don't know any people named Toby but have come across a fair few dogs

emmathedilemma · 27/09/2021 14:34

Wracking my brain through names of friends kids, their friends etc and apart from one I used to work with who’d be in his mid 40’s now I can’t think of any. I’m in Scotland so it may be less popular here.

Ahhhhhbisto · 27/09/2021 14:33

I only know of two Toby's in DS's primary school, around 8-10 year bracket.

One may belong to me....it's a great name Wink

trumpisagit · 27/09/2021 13:46

Now 12 year olds there's 2 across what was 3 primary school classes in our village.
I have met 3 others locally aged 4, 8, 10 ish.
I would say medium but not very popular.
