Sibling for Jared and Micah

Famousfrays · 26/09/2021 21:57

Please help! DC3 is due any day now and we still haven’t decided on a name. Our 2 boys are Jared and Micah. We don’t know the sex of this baby so suggestions for both please. For a girl we like Dawn, but we aren’t sure if it works. Thank you!

@BlowDryRat

Phoebe is popular but if you don't mind that then it's a lovely name. The KJV translation spells it as Phebe but she'll be spelling it out all her life if you do that.

Other girls' name suggestions:

  • Eden
  • Hannah
  • Mary
  • Madeleine
  • Eliza
  • Martha
  • Tabitha
I like Eliza. But I don’t like that Micah and Eliza have the same ending. I know I’m so picky🤦🏻‍♀️

Dinah
Hannah
Zilla

from the Old Testament too?

Or from the New Testament:

Damaris
Dorcas
Rhoda

maybe?

jackstini · 26/09/2021 22:34

Other biblical names that could work are
Abilene
Hannah
Sarai
Tamar
Adina
Zia
Eden
Rhoda
Ahira
Tryphena

I like Abel for a boy. I also love Cain but have a family member with the name.

Reading back I do quite like Phoebe for a girl. Any opinions on that name?

Dinah
Adah
Keziah
Susanna

Are all Old Testament names

BlowDryRat · 26/09/2021 22:31

Cain is not. First murderer in Biblical history, cursed to roam the earth as a vagabond for all of time?

undercoverhero74 · 26/09/2021 22:30

What about Jude for a bit or Juno if it's a girl 😊

BlowDryRat · 26/09/2021 22:30

Ooo Eliana is lovely!

RainbowBriteUk · 26/09/2021 22:30

How about Cain, Gabriel, Abel or Ezekiel for a boy?

jackstini · 26/09/2021 22:28

I know a Micah whose sister is Eliana - means God has answered in Hebrew and daughter of the sun in Greek - so a bit like Dawn but I think prettier as a first name

HadEnoughOfBears · 26/09/2021 22:27

Ethan

@Footle

Keziah
I like it but I have a friend with the name so can’t use it.

@Nancydrawn

Old Testament girl's names:

Naomi
Miriam
Rebekah/Rebecca
Deborah
Hannah
Ruth
Sarah
Jemima
Leah
Abigail
Delilah
Rachel

Names that mean Dawn (loosely):
Amaryllis
Aurora (don't)
Dagny
Iola
Oriana
Zora

Personally I'm generally a fan of the OT names, myself. Love about half of them.

All of the Old Testament girls names that I like are used by family members. I do like Ruth, but then I think of Roof and it puts me off

I love Enoch but reminds me of Enoch Powell so I wouldn’t do it. No girl names are standing out to me unfortunately.

I would keep Dawn as a middle name and choose a first name in keeping with Jared and Micah.

Redsquirrel5 · 26/09/2021 22:13

Martha

Jacob

Tobias

I know a Dawn it works I think.

Famousfrays · 26/09/2021 22:11

@smallandimperfectlyformed

Dawn isn't an especially Biblical name but there's all the imagery of a new dawn etc so it would match that theme (I know you said you didn't do it on purpose but just in case you wanted them to match thematically). Good luck with the upcoming arrival!
Thank you!. That’s a good point actually I hadn’t thought about that.

@BlowDryRat

I have one of those (not saying which!) Smile

I really like Old Testament names. How about, for a boy:

  • Mahonri (going for the classic set!)
  • Seth
  • Caleb
  • Ezra
  • Levi
  • Gideon
  • Elijah
  • Isaac

For a girl:

  • Phebe
  • Esther
  • Leah
  • Judith
I love all the boys names. Especially Caleb and Isaac. I can’t find any Old Testament girls names that I like though!
