Ayvlin- 2 syllables, Lancashire accent

InFiveMins · 09/10/2021 13:28

Ayvleen

Geamhradh · 09/10/2021 11:52

Ava-leen.
But I also watched Bread so know Ava-line exists too.
It would never have crossed my mind there's an "Ayva" possibility as well tbh.

BikeRunSki · 08/10/2021 23:01

@RuthW

Av-a-line (As in the programme Bread). Never heard it said any other way.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard it used anywhere else!

4. Probably in a Liverpool accent.

Babynameq21 · 28/09/2021 22:53

@CaffiSaliMali

I also read the name in a book as a teenager. I've always pronounced it 'Av-uh-leen' but the uh is subtle, so it's sort of a cross between Av-uh-leen and Av-leen.

I love the name but DH vetoed it as be thinks it sounds too close to 'have a lean'.

Ooo I wonder if it's the same book! Mine was a historical fiction one. The character met a sorry end though 😞

ILoveShula · 28/09/2021 10:03

I don't like it or Ava.

TartanJumper · 28/09/2021 00:37

Ava-Lean
Which is probably wrong, but it's where my mind goes!

urbanbuddha · 27/09/2021 15:28

Ava is nicer, I think.

RuthW · 27/09/2021 15:27

There were who actresses who played Avaline. One is now in Corrie. (Brian's ladyfriend - can't remember her name)

RuthW · 27/09/2021 15:23

@MeredithGreyishblue

Even though it wasn't about her, I always hear, "she is a TART!" after it!
Me too but thought I'd better not put it on this thread!
RuthW · 27/09/2021 15:20
