Ellora or Paisleigh?

Ellora and Paisleigh are the top two me and DH have chosen but not sure of which one to choose as we like them both equally. We both prefer spelling them differently than having them as Elora and paisley if anyone's wondering. DD is due in December so we've got time to have a think and we'd love to hear your opinions thanks.

Ellora is a million times better than Paisleigh.
But are you pronouncing it like eh-lora? Or more like Ella-ra?

Mumoftwoinprimary · 26/09/2021 21:21

Do you have a name that is regularly mid-spelled? I do. It is really really irritating. Think “nails on a blackboard” irritating.

And occasionally problematic when I am sent a really important email and the person sending it can’t spell my name and so it is lost forever.

SoupDragon · 26/09/2021 21:20

Paisleigh Is truly, truly awful.

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/09/2021 21:19

I have spent my life spelling my name for people, it's annoying. What would be worse would be spelling it out and people looking at me with 'WTF were you parents thinking' on their face.

You baby is loved by you, unique and special. It doesn't need a badly spelled name to make that.

Shellfishblastard · 26/09/2021 21:19

I really dislike commenting negatively on name threads as it’s such an individual decision.

However, Paisleigh is awful OP.

Elora is actually ok. It’s basically Laura with an E at the start. It looks better with one L I think

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 26/09/2021 21:18

oh dear @98gigs

why the ridiculous spellings??

dreadful, awful

Suasthuasanuas · 26/09/2021 21:18

Ian Paisley.
I’d be waiting for her first words to be “Ulster says No!”
Eek!

ChaToilLeam · 26/09/2021 21:18

Ellora is unusual but pretty.

The other name is ridiculous. Made me think of parsley. Don’t do it!!

Heartsinflowers · 26/09/2021 21:17

Not keen they both sound a bit Dance Moms or toddlers and Tiaras. Ellora if I had to pick as she can go by Ellie when older.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/09/2021 21:15

Phloughie is nice.

CornishTiger · 26/09/2021 21:14

Gosh sorry. In 14 years here I am saying for the first time that these are awful

MiddleEasternMummy · 26/09/2021 21:12

Both pretty grim in my opinion. Paisleigh is bloody awful , the name , the spelling all bad . Please don't name your child this !!!

NCkitchen · 26/09/2021 21:10

Elora is fine
Paisleigh is awful

Flufferty · 26/09/2021 21:08

They both absolutely awful. Just totally ridiculous and look made up by somebody who can't spell. I'm really sorry to be so harsh, but you've got time to think of something else

CiaoForNiao · 26/09/2021 21:04

I love Elora. Ellora less so, but it's still nice.

Paisleigh is awful. Paisley isn't really much better.

Chewbecca · 26/09/2021 21:03

Elora - fine. Ellora, odd.

Paisleigh - awful.

Heruka · 26/09/2021 21:03

Have you been to Paisley?

Toottooot · 26/09/2021 21:01

Paisleigh - naw just dinnae. The other names not much better either.

ISpyCobraKai · 26/09/2021 20:59

Please don't name your child Paisleigh.
Ellora isn't great either but much better than the other dreadful name.

Puffalicious · 26/09/2021 20:59

Are you serious with Paisleigh? Paisley is a nice enough name as is Elora. I agree with everyone that the awful spellings are, well awful!

What about Elodie/ Elena/ Thea - all recently used by friends and are unusual but lovely.

Dmsandfloatydress · 26/09/2021 20:58

Elora is tolerable but Paysleigh is unbearable. Poor child.

Ginger1982 · 26/09/2021 20:58

Both are terrible but especially Paisley. Never understood why folks like this name (but then I've been there!)

ZoChan · 26/09/2021 20:58

Elora is so pretty and is actually a Hebrew name meaning "my god is my light"

Instantly reminded me of the movie Willow too- Elora was prophesied to save the world, wasn't she?! Love it

SirChenjins · 26/09/2021 20:56

Paisleigh Grin Taking a not very nice town on the west of Scotland and applying a youneeq spelling to it really is beyond cringe-worthy - just don’t do it.

Ellora is a nice enough name - but again, what’s with the youneeq spelling? It doesn’t change the name, it just makes you look like you didn’t know how to spell the name and cba looking it up.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 26/09/2021 20:56

Ellora spelled either way is OK. Paisley is not to my taste...
