Mey/Mei

Would you pronounce it like May or My?

Which one do you prefer if you had to choose?

Prefer Mei. Would definitely pronounce that May, although would assume south East Asian.

Mey I think I'd also go for May, but would be a bit less certain.

@RosesAndHellebores

Why isn't it an option?
Because my DH and I prefer it spelled with an E.

I was pronounce them both as “may”, and I prefer Mei.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 21/09/2021 20:11

May for Mei.
Mey I’d think either may or me.

Why isn't it an option?

DramaAlpaca · 21/09/2021 20:10

May

SilentPanic · 21/09/2021 20:09

May. Mei is a shortened version of a few Welsh boys' names (Meirion, Meilir) and is relatively common. It's pronounced may.

PyjamaMamma · 21/09/2021 20:09

Mei is pronounced May and if I saw a child with this name I’d assume Japanese.

iwantknowyouropinion · 21/09/2021 20:09

@RosesAndHellebores

Just use May.
That's not an option.

Sexnotgender · 21/09/2021 20:07

I’d pronounce it My.

How do you what it pronounced?

RosesAndHellebores · 21/09/2021 20:06

Just use May.
