Cameron or Sebastian - which do you prefer?

Cameron

Blubells · 20/09/2021 16:05

How can someone describe Sebastian as a wet name?

Surely it's a valid viewpoint? Sebastian sounds soft and a little frilly. and Seb reminds me of sebaceous (oily).

The op is hopefully looking for honest opinions?

How can someone describe Sebastian as a wet name? It means revered and is a very strong sounding name you can imagine on anyone from a lawyer to an artist.

Cameron reminds of me David Cameron and means crooked nose.

Roguehair · 20/09/2021 15:41

@Brokensunflower

They are very different in terms of social class. I think Sebastian is more middle class and Cameron a bit more of a working class name.

I think Sebastian is quite cute.

Where are you getting that from? Surely it’s more of a regional thing. Plenty of Cameron’s in Gordonstoun and St Andrews!
Roguehair · 20/09/2021 15:36

Definitely Cameron. Sebastian is such a wet name. The Camerons I know are bright, popular boys(don’t know any female ones) and the Sebastians I have come across are snivelling little mummy’s boys. Obviously this is just my personal experience.

leavesthataregreen · 20/09/2021 15:33

I like both but prefer Cameron because the two I've known are particularly lovely boys. Also, I love Scottish boys' names.

TatianaBis · 20/09/2021 15:27

If you're Scottish Cameron makes sense.

SeanChailleach · 20/09/2021 12:55

Cameron is from Cambryn meaning a Cambrian person. They spoke. P-Celtic language and lived in Britain before the Romans.
Crooked nose is a false etymology invented for satire.

Probablyinpain · 20/09/2021 10:33

Cameron. But I'm biased because I have one. Regularly gets shortened to Cam which I like too.

FreeBritnee · 20/09/2021 10:30

Sebastian is hugely popular now. So Cameron.

MrsBungle · 20/09/2021 10:28

Cameron. Sebastian is very wet.

Roonilwazlib1 · 20/09/2021 10:28

Sebastian - in my opinion there's a reason it's popular.

I personally don't like Cameron at all

SleepEatPoopRepeat · 20/09/2021 10:25

@Brokensunflowermay I ask where about you are located roughly as I have never come across this opinion before and wondering if it’s a north south thing?

Augusta1 · 20/09/2021 09:56

Cameron. There are so many Sebastians around at the moment. It’s also a bit of a “wet” name.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 20/09/2021 09:50

Sebastian nn Seb

Kanaloa · 20/09/2021 09:37

Cameron for sure! I like Cammy for a little boy’s nickname. Sebastian is nice too though.

Blubells · 20/09/2021 09:34

How on earth is 'Bash' cute? It's horrible!

I agree.

Bash
noun
1 1.
a heavy blow."a bash on the head"

Blubells · 20/09/2021 09:32

Cameron definitely. Strong name and easy to say.

Sebastian is long and frilly. Unfortunately it hasn't any nice short forms.. Seb, Sebby, Basty are not nice imo.

SleepEatPoopRepeat · 20/09/2021 07:58

My other half is Scottish and will have a very Scottish surname

MitheringMytryl · 20/09/2021 07:49

Cameron.

Sebastian sounds like a fancy cat's name.

EdgeOfTheSky · 20/09/2021 07:42

Sebastian

And I wouldn’t use Cameron unless you are Scottish. It seems like a very Scottish identified name to me.

RavenclawsRoar · 20/09/2021 07:42

Sebastian! Really dislike Cameron.

barbrahunter · 20/09/2021 07:40

@IceLace100

Cameron reminds me of David Cameron...
I came on here to say this
custardbear · 20/09/2021 06:49
