**Apologies to anyone who loves the names Cecil and Gladys.

KirstenBlest · 20/09/2021 15:16

Only ask family or friends if you trust them not to have a strop if you don't use their choice.

If it is a sibling or friend, they may have decided that a name is 'theirs' and be annoyed if you use it. They may also not suggest a name for that reason.

Parents might be quite keen for you to use an honour name and be upset that you don't want to have a baby Cecil or Gladys.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 20/09/2021 14:59

I wouldnt ask them at all. No way!

Rubyrebel · 20/09/2021 13:58

Thanks for all your suggestions! Would any of you ask family / friends or avoid 😂??

I love George the best!

MrsMiddleMother · 20/09/2021 13:16

Jack and Myles are my favourite and were also on my baby name lists 😍

bloominglovelyorange · 19/09/2021 18:57

Miles is lovely and not posh

timoteigirl · 19/09/2021 17:06

I like them all but it seems you want a very common name so there is lots more to consider. Myles is the only one that is less common. hat sounds good with your family name?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/09/2021 16:55

No I don’t but that’s neither here nor there.
If you like them all equally why not pick out out of a hat.

cravingmilkshake · 19/09/2021 15:40

We love Jack for our boy but combined with our surname it turns it into an American swear word so are going for Miles!

My husband chose Niles and I loved it because I know there won't be a few of them in the classroom etc.

gailplattshairbrush · 19/09/2021 15:12

George is actually higher on the list of 'popular' names than Jack. I believe Oliver is number 1, followed by George then Jack is number 4 or 5.

BikeRunSki · 19/09/2021 15:04

Now, Giles is a posh name ime!

Rubyrebel · 19/09/2021 11:23

Haha, I don’t know why I think it is , guess it sounds a bit like Giles.

The only issue is - is miles a posh name lol ??

Not in my experience of 2 !

Rubyrebel · 18/09/2021 20:15

Thanks for all your help! I think miles had the most votes with the rest basically tied. The only issue is - is miles a posh name lol ??

I like Jack

lannistunut · 18/09/2021 19:00

Miles is nice.

Ethan is nice but not with Stephan (too rhyme-y).

Jack lovely but very popular.

Charles and George too royal.

whatausername · 18/09/2021 18:58

Ethan is awkward with Stephen to the point I'd discount it. Myles Stephen Dyson and Charles Stephen Dyson are a little S-heavy. Fine when said w/o the mn however and mn are rarely used so perhaps not an issue. Charlie/Charles is nice. Jack sounds tired to me. George is popular but not overused like Jack.

Hollywolly1 · 18/09/2021 18:57

I think Mossy is a fabulous boys name

Stevearnottsbeard · 18/09/2021 18:52

I don't think ethan Stephen works, the ending is to samey. Jack Stephen or Miles Stephen sound good

BeKindBeYou · 18/09/2021 18:47

Definitely Miles for me! I love it!!!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 18/09/2021 18:45

Nice list!
Jack is my favourite.
Congratulations :)
