Since everyone wasn’t a fan of Prairie 😂, I thought it was kind of cute. How do you guys feel about the name Hudson, for a boy of course

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@CeeceeBloomingdale

It's fine as a surname, it's not as a first name to me.
Me too. Obviously as with all names those with loved ones with the name will have v different experience. I don’t know anyone called this so my first thoughts - Upstairs downstairs The Bay, the River - would wonder if the boy had American connections - not fond of place names as first names. I like it as a surname.

It's fine as a surname, it's not as a first name to me.

BeKindBeYou · 18/09/2021 07:02

I really like it! A strong name for a boy!

Coyoacan · 18/09/2021 01:28

Nope, I don't like surnames as first names.

xprincessxjanetx · 18/09/2021 00:41

I'm not keen on it i'm afraid

PaolaDiLorenzo · 17/09/2021 23:38

It's really nice and although it sounds American, it's actually of English origin.

embolass · 17/09/2021 23:35

Hudson was the Butler in Upstairs Downstairs-dreadful name.

Eve81 · 17/09/2021 23:33

I’m another one for it’s a surname.

Babdoc · 17/09/2021 23:29

A PP beat me to it, but yes, it always means Hudson, the Scots butler in Upstairs Downstairs, to me. Brilliantly played by Gordon Jackson.

Mybalconyiscracking · 17/09/2021 23:26

It always makes me think of Sir Hudson Bobbin, he ate himself to death.
However it is the name of my great nephew and it’s a bloody awful name for a child in my opinion.

Rummikubfan · 17/09/2021 23:24

Awful

OrangutanLibrarian · 17/09/2021 23:23

Naff as a first name

HitMeWithYourRhythmicPrick · 17/09/2021 23:22

@MrsFin

I don't like any of the names that end in '-son': Hudson Jackson/Jaxson Madison Harrison Mason Grayson Jason Etc.
These are all atrocious.
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 17/09/2021 23:19

The only Hudson I know is a) American, and B) a little shit.

SirChenjins · 17/09/2021 21:59

Are you a bit obsessed with America at the moment OP? Grin

No, Hudson is not very nice - it’s a Jaxon/Kai/Riley/Mason/Tyler type name.

DuckonaBike · 17/09/2021 21:53

Good name for a river, not so good for a person.

Ninkanink · 17/09/2021 21:51

It’s not pretentious at all...in fact I’d say it’s anything but!

Ninkanink · 17/09/2021 21:50

Don’t like it at all.

It’s a surname.

Also it might be an idea to just make one thread for all your potential name choices, instead of a separate thread for each one.

nicecheesegromit · 17/09/2021 21:45

Naaa, not classy at all

alexdgr8 · 17/09/2021 20:37

Higginbottom is much more unusual, and snazzy.

Cindie943811A · 17/09/2021 20:31

Not my choice but it’s okay — to my mind preferable to the popular Harrison. Go for it if you like it.
(No idea why anyone would think it was pretentious )

Fckingfuming · 17/09/2021 20:07

Yup to 'Game over man, game over!'.
Aliens.

DevilFinger · 17/09/2021 19:57

Game over man! (And it's a surname)

KeyErro · 17/09/2021 19:52

I think it's a really ugly sound

BrainPotter · 17/09/2021 19:50

Meh
