Since everyone wasn’t a fan of Prairie 😂, I thought it was kind of cute. How do you guys feel about the name Hudson, for a boy of course

Sounds too trendy, don't like it but that's just my taste

beans1992 · 24/09/2021 19:18

I really love it. The surname thing wouldn’t put me off, there are loads of names that are also surnames … Thomas, Oliver, James, LOADS!

I definitely think of the Hudson River, which is a great association IMO. Go for it!

Plane crash landing in a river.
American actor who had to pretend not to be gay.

RiotAtTheRodeo · 18/09/2021 22:15

I think it's okay. A damn sight better than Percy and Rupert which I've seen people rave about here.

Babydust13 · 18/09/2021 22:00

I love it

myheartskippedabeat · 18/09/2021 20:49

@ChrissyPlummer

It’s a surname.
Exactly

I hate surnames used as first names

HitMeWithYourRhythmicPrick · 18/09/2021 18:59

@SirChenjins

Not round here they’re not.

SirChenjins · 18/09/2021 08:48

Kanaloa · 18/09/2021 08:43

And I say that having worked with children for years. Lots of naughty boys named Jackson. Lots of naughty boys named Oliver. Lots of nice boys named Jackson, lots of nice boys named Oliver.

Kanaloa · 18/09/2021 08:41

@SirChenjins

Most of those names are really popular, with the exception of Jaxon, as Jackson is more well-used than Jaxon. All fine, well used names that wouldn’t raise an eyebrow really

Depends who you mix with. They’re the names of the ‘spirited’ boys in the class.

I see. Glad to know all the ‘spirited’ boys are named Jackson, Kai, or Mason. It must be such a comfort to know all you need to do to ensure your future child’s good behaviour is pick a mumsnet-approved baby name.

'Kind of cute' is fine when you're naming a labradoodle but your son isn't going to be a chubby little baby for ever. At some point he'll be an adult male/rocket scientist/bar manager/planning officer.

inappropriateraspberry · 18/09/2021 07:59

No. It's a surname. Bay, River, Kate, Rock,

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/09/2021 07:47

It reminds me of the actor Rock Hudson.

Mybalconyiscracking · 18/09/2021 07:38

Ooh.. Prairie, Savannah, Serengeti, Tundra, Bush, Veldt, Scrub, Pasture, Paddock, Lawn

Limitless possibilities..

Orangejuicemarathoner · 18/09/2021 07:30

I also liked Prairie

I have known many Savannahs!

FatLarrysBand · 18/09/2021 07:30

Sounds like someone one of Trump's daughters will eventually marry.

@SirChenjins - wholeheartedly agree. Always the kids standing in the corridor when parents are shown round.

Orangejuicemarathoner · 18/09/2021 07:29

Have you read Don Tillman? He names his autistic son Hudson. It stands for Human Under Development and SON

Weepingwillows12 · 18/09/2021 07:28

My first thought is plane crash. After that I am ambivalent. It's not great or terrible. If you like it, go for it.

Kanaloa · 18/09/2021 07:27

@SirChenjins

Are you a bit obsessed with America at the moment OP? Grin

No, Hudson is not very nice - it’s a Jaxon/Kai/Riley/Mason/Tyler type name.

Kanaloa · 18/09/2021 07:25

It’s nice, much nicer than Prairie! It’s not too popular but not outlandish. Just a nice normal name.

ofwarren · 18/09/2021 07:23

Not my type of name but it's miles better than Prairie.

Love it!
HerRoyalNotness · 18/09/2021 07:12

I like it, but then I also like your other suggestion. I know 2. One with an American dad and one Aussie. The Aussie named ce the Hudson car company.
