Polly?

Thoughts on the name Polly? I was rather shocked to see it has never been that high on the UK charts. Highest position was 184! I like that it is not overly ‘out there’ but still surprisingly not that popular!

Thoughts? :)

I vaguely know a perfectly nice Polly, but the name sounds prissy and affected to me.

And Love in a Cold Climate

I love Polly. If you do have one, you must buy her the Dimanche Diller books.

Pollythecat15 · 13/09/2021 19:30

I love it! If I'd had another daughter then this would be top of the list, hence why I called my cat Polly instead.

Newgirls · 13/09/2021 18:13

It’s cool. PJ Harvey etc. I know a couple of adults and both successful women in the arts if that helps?!

chipshopElvis · 13/09/2021 18:03

I have a Polly she is ace, her name suits her. She certainly isn't wet or meek. She also loves her name and is the only one in her school.

It's enough for a bit of individuality without being over used

ILoveShula · 13/09/2021 17:53

I really like it. It seems an assertive name. I like Molly and Holly too but Polly seems stronger. Nice change from all the vowelly names.

suredsun · 13/09/2021 17:24

One of my favourite names. So much classier than Molly or Holly which are both overused.

peaceinourtime · 13/09/2021 17:22

I love it, go for it

RubySlippers123 · 13/09/2021 11:50

Love it!

stripedbananas · 13/09/2021 09:07

I love it

Kokeshi123 · 13/09/2021 03:13

Don't like it. Polycotton, polyfiller etc. And it's a silly sounding word.

Birchwoods · 12/09/2021 21:33

I have a six year old Polly and have always considered it to be a strong, simple, unfussy name, not cutesy at all. She could be a Tom boy or a girly girl and the name would still fit. Her name really suits her and she never gets parrot/kettle/Polly pocket comments.
I know of a couple of adult Polly's too and always think what a lovely name it is at any age. I love it!

xprincessxjanetx · 12/09/2021 21:27

I'm not keen but it isn't a bad name

EdgeOfACoin · 12/09/2021 19:23

Dislike. I think it sounds lightweight and cutesy.

Santabunny · 12/09/2021 17:22

I like it

KimDeals · 12/09/2021 12:50

Love. Polly and molly have been slow burning in popularity the last 10 years.

Molly was/is a derivative of Mary but seems to be a name in its own right now.

Polly - made untouchably cool by PJ Harvey & gang 😎

RestingStitchFace · 12/09/2021 12:47

Honestly, I hate it...to me it sounds prissy.

BlossomOnTrees · 12/09/2021 12:46

It's grown on me of late. Am starting to like it.

KirstenBlest · 12/09/2021 12:43

I love it.

Love it.

Makes me think of the nirvana song that’s even more depressing than their other depressing songs

Elisemum · 11/09/2021 23:22

I really like it, it’s nice.

ZittiEBuoni · 11/09/2021 22:22

My nearly-adult Polly loves her name and is definitely not wet or meek.

She does occasionally get tired of being asked to put the kettle on though Grin.
