Axel

One of my all time favourites (currently ttc baby 3).

Is it about to have a popularity explosion because Perri Edwards named her baby Axel? Not sure how I feel about it being trendy but I do really love it - big Guns n Roses fan but prefer this spelling.

Alternative suggestions welcome too :)

Ah ok, but you need the rose bit for that

Babydust13 · 07/09/2021 13:04

My OH loves the name Axel but I just couldn't get my head around it

Every time I say Axel I hear Rose it also seems like a big name to pull off

SilverConvention · 07/09/2021 13:01

@Yummypancake

What’s it an anagram of?
Oral sex
bloominglovelyorange · 07/09/2021 11:59

It's a lovely name, stick with it for sure

If anything little mix using name might put people off using it and it could fall in charts (Louis went down in charts when royals picked it and I think Wilfred will do the same because of Boris)

Constellationstation · 07/09/2021 11:56

@Jumpingintosummer and she’s a singer which made me jump to conclusions! But Neilsfavouritechilli has already explained

Yummypancake · 07/09/2021 11:42

What’s it an anagram of?

Tinpotspectator · 07/09/2021 11:39

I'm not keen.

Jumpingintosummer · 07/09/2021 11:39
It says on Wikipedia that she’s Duffy’s daughter. It might be wrong, but I don’t see why she can’t be in Little Mix and be Duffy’s daughter!

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perrie_Edwards
Her mother’s surname is Duffy but that’s about it.

Constellationstation · 07/09/2021 11:37

Ohhh, my mistake! Grin

Neilsfavouritechilli · 07/09/2021 11:37

I think her mums surname is Duffy rather than her being the singer Duffy. Duffy wouldn't be old enough anyways.

Plump82 · 07/09/2021 10:19

She isn't? She's from Little Mix.

Lycanthropology · 07/09/2021 10:17

Perrie Edwards is not Duffy's daughter! Confused

Iwantcauliflowercheese · 07/09/2021 10:14

It makes me think of a car part.

PileOfBooks · 07/09/2021 10:08

Also don't like nickname Axe..

PileOfBooks · 07/09/2021 10:08

I like it añd reminds me now of Axel shaffer.

But when I first heard of a child being called this I did asssume "car part."

Constellationstation · 07/09/2021 10:06

I didn’t like it at first, but then someone mentioned Axel Scheffler and I quite like him and his name!
I didn’t know who Perrie Edwards was but recognise her now I’ve just looked her up. Didn’t know she was Duffy’s daughter!

HoldingTheDoor · 07/09/2021 10:02

I've never understood the appeal personally. I think it has a harsh and unpleasant sound to it.

Jumpingintosummer · 07/09/2021 10:01

Friends 6yr old is called Axel. His surname makes him sound like a destination on a bus trip Blush.

VanillaAndOrange · 07/09/2021 09:58

I like it! I actually know someone who has a teenage son called this - all her children have rather unusual names. The only thing that would worry me about it is I bet a lot of people would misread it as Alex (which I also like but it's a very different name) or assume it was a typo.

Axl Rose's real name is William iirc. That's another nice name!

Lycanthropology · 07/09/2021 02:03

I love it!

user78231 · 06/09/2021 14:45

still an anagram of something else though!

Tal45 · 06/09/2021 14:36

@user78231

Nice name - I always thought of it as more German.

Btw - that was not the real name of the Guns n Roses man - he used it because it is an anagram of 2 rude words! Make sure you are aware of that first!!!!!!

I thought it was the name of his first band?
