Challenge to find a timeless, uncommon-ish boy’s name

Haven’t found a single boys name that we agree on for impending DS2. DS1 has a fairly unusual, Welsh name with great nickname potential-it’s perfect. I’ve read the entire 2019 ONS list and not found anything.
Must be ‘timeless’- ie. not shot up in popularity recently like Arlo, Albie etc type names.
Would like it to ‘go’ with DS1 so ideally not too common (although this doesn’t put me off entirely) and possibly have Welsh roots (we have links but live in England)
I think I need to be open to starting from scratch to find something because clearly I’m being too fussy!
If I had to choose a name tomorrow it would be Laurie. This has been vetoed by DH!
Please help!

This is so amazing to read through, thanks everyone!
DS’s name has been suggested along with many others that we’ve discussed and discounted as not being quite right! (We have a strange surname to contend with too!) so this is definitely the theme I need to go down…
Is Louen beginning with an oo or ow sound?

Have you looked up SJ Strum on YouTube? She does baby name videos every Monday and there's some really lovely ideas there.

@Upalln1ght me too! I almost want my husbands vasectomy reversed so I can try for a boy just to use this name 😂

Ianto

Guto (one of my favourite names ever). Wiki tells me it can also be a diminutive for Gruffudd / Gruffydd, Augusto, or Gustavo.

Unless you’ve used one of these already!

PeigiSu · 05/09/2021 08:17

I think going more Welsh might help.
Not sure if you are lining in Wales but

Rhodri
Emrys
Osian
Ceri
Ianto
Iolo

All pronounceable and relatively classic, not unheard of but not too common (will be unusual in England).

No Welsh roots (I believe) but Nicholas?

I’m not even going to try to write it phonetically, but - like this guy does!!

(Not a dodgy link, video of a chap named Iolo chatting about Aberystwyth University!)
