YukoandHiro · 12/07/2023 13:51

Love it!

namechangefornamethreadzombie · 12/07/2023 13:51

ZOMBIE!

And no, we didn't go for it in the end, husband got cold feet.

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/07/2023 13:46

You've seen my username I take it? Grin

AceofPentacles · 12/07/2023 13:45

Wonder what they say behind yours!

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/07/2023 07:10

They do, but they don't say it to your face.

AceofPentacles · 12/07/2023 06:57

MN has always HATED the name Chester.
I have one !
His friends call him Chess
No one thinks it's weird or a dog's name 🤣

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/07/2023 06:10

Chester and Chester Zoo are both worth a visit.
Would a boy named Chester be called Chesty by his friends?

TheHandbag · 12/07/2023 05:22

I'm not keen on Chester because it reminds me of Chester Zoo but if you like it then that's what matters.

Chester James
Chester David
Chester Otis
Chester Liam

Chester is a pretty city but I wouldn't say it was ''one of the most magnificent cities''

Chester Dawes

user1492757084 · 11/07/2023 10:10

As a place, Chester is one of the most magnificent cities and so Chester is lovely as a name.
Chester John sounds perfect with Toby James.

peaceinourtime · 11/07/2023 07:35

It sounds like a dogs name as the only Chester's have known of have been dogs.

ThePoshUns · 11/07/2023 06:56

PricklesTheHedgehog · 03/09/2021 10:49

Chester George sounds like chest of drawers.

Agree!

gratedhalloumi · 11/07/2023 06:54

My first thought was Chester the child molester, might just be an area thing (London)

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/07/2023 23:28

I love it ! Chester George ❤️

Hi OP. Appreciate that this thread is really old now, but so curious to know if you went with Chester?
It is our No. 1 boys name and have always loved it, was surprised by all the negativity!

I'm not the OP but called my beautiful baby boy Chester last year. Hadn't seen this thread at the time, and am a bit surprised with the negativity around the name myself, but even if I had seen it, it wouldn't have changed my mind. I loved it then and still do now. IRL, the vast majority of reactions to the name have been very positive. We have had the odd comment about it being 'different' (with a face being pulled), but it really doesn't bother us. It's a great name and really suits him. No regrets whatsoever.

SwansLake · 10/07/2023 23:19

I like it! Chester Bennington was so cool!

Chester George.
Cheddar Gorge?
No, I said Chester George.

Nothing wrong with either name on their own. But it doesn't trip off the tongue smoothly as a combination.

Her child will be nearly 2

Chester is a bunny in my brain :)

I love the name Chester. It’s a little different but not silly. Go for it.

Givemethatknife · 03/09/2021 22:48

For some reason I think of it as a Teddy Bear’s name, is there a Chester the bear?? I probably prefer it for a stuffed toy, TBH.

finallychangedmyusername · 03/09/2021 21:47

I like Chester but agree that Chester George doesn't work that well.

Possible alternatives to Chester that I think go well with Toby are:

Rupert
Otis
Rufus
Magnus

Rupert George, Otis George, Rufus George and Magnus George all flow well.

Or else Chester Jude, Chester Luke, Chester Jake, Chester Hugh, Chester Joel for some other one syllable options.

cheesemarmitepanini · 03/09/2021 19:56

I find it strange that we live in a world where the two most popular names come from a small, green, oval fruit, but 'Chester' raises eyebrows.
