Down to 2 girls names..help

We’re expecting end of this month and have managed to get down to 2 girls names we both really like and cannot decide between. Surname is one syllable and older brother William.

Jessica Rose B (will be Jessie / Jess)
Madison Rose B (will be Maddie)

Rose is set (I know some people think it’s a bit too popular now but it has significant meaning).

Thanks

Jessica by a mile

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/09/2021 17:12

Between the two, Jessica - no contest, a pretty Shakespearean choice.

William and Madison are such a mitch match - one is classic, very timeless with some wonderful historical namesakes and the other is a surname that only became popular for girls as a first name after a cute 80's film.

But I agree with pp's that classic Madeleine would be an nice alternative, if you really love the nn Maddie.

Maddie 💕

Shutupyoutart · 01/09/2021 16:56

Both gorgeous choices I think I prefer Jessica though and it flows so lovely with rose

LiveSimply · 01/09/2021 16:56

Jessica - beautiful name!

DoucheCanoe · 01/09/2021 16:55

Dd's best friend is Madison/Maddie - she's somehow ended up being Sonny at school.

Jessica is a much nicer name!

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 01/09/2021 16:53

@JSL52 you'll be pleased to know my daughter only ever goes by her full name (shortenings of it are awful to be fair)

I guess people pick names with NN as its inevitable that some names get shortened, like Jonathan to Jon.

AdaColeman · 01/09/2021 16:52

Jessica, it's a beautiful name!

JSL52 · 01/09/2021 16:49

Jessica - why do baby name threads always have a nn ? Can't the baby be called Jessica known as Jessica.
Sorry - just puzzled.

HeronLanyon · 01/09/2021 16:43

If you are in ok then Jessica by a country mile. Madison sounds really American to me still and not fond of it at all. Why not Madeleine ?? To get to Maddy. Much more beautiful. ??

Thebearneccessities · 01/09/2021 16:42

Jessica Rose for me.

DeeplyCheesedOffWithLife · 01/09/2021 16:40

Another vote for Jessica.

The difference in number of Ds between Madison and Maddie would annoy me!

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 01/09/2021 14:28

Jessica Rose

SoSoSoSleepy · 01/09/2021 14:23

Jessica out of the two, although it does feel a bit 90s to me - seems to be having a bit of a resurgence though.

Really not keen on Madison at all. I love pp's suggestion of Madeleine. Beautiful name and you can still have nn of Maddie.

Pemba · 01/09/2021 14:18

Jessica is lovely, I'd pick that. Madison has a pretty sound, but it's a little tacky and made up (from the film Splash). Madeleine is so much nicer and of course you also get Maddie from that. Madeleine and Jessica are equally lovely.

IWasBornInAThunderstorm · 01/09/2021 13:27

Ooh strong lean toward Jessica - I love it too. And that you have differing options depending on age / preference seems a bonus.
Thanks everyone 😃
