Down to 2 girls names..help

Almostcooked2021 · 01/09/2021 11:25

We’re expecting end of this month and have managed to get down to 2 girls names we both really like and cannot decide between. Surname is one syllable and older brother William.

Jessica Rose B (will be Jessie / Jess)
Madison Rose B (will be Maddie)

Rose is set (I know some people think it’s a bit too popular now but it has significant meaning).

Thanks

Jessica Rose is my name. Great choice! My sisters always hated their names, but I've always been happy with mine. 😊

SadWife2020 · 01/09/2021 22:50

100% Jessica, has lots going for it, works with everything from Shakespeare (Merchant of Venice) to Sweet Valley High (naughty twin). Madison is faddy definitely not

JSL52 · 01/09/2021 22:44
@JSL52 you'll be pleased to know my daughter only ever goes by her full name (shortenings of it are awful to be fair)

I guess people pick names with NN as its inevitable that some names get shortened, like Jonathan to Jon.
Mine too. I don't think it's inevitable that names are shortened.

CrystalMaisie · 01/09/2021 21:36

Jessica

SpeckledyHen · 01/09/2021 21:28

Jessica . Love Jess and Jessie too .

RubySlippers123 · 01/09/2021 21:11

Jessica!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 01/09/2021 21:06

Jessica Rose for sure, that’s lovely . Madison is really not a nice name at all, totally different type of name to Jessica and William.

WinterCarlisle · 01/09/2021 21:02

Jessica Rose 100%

Not a fan of Madison at all. Jessica goes so much better with William

boomoohoo · 01/09/2021 20:58

I'm a Jessica (known as jess or jessie) and I love how much everyone is into it! I'm late 30s and agree it doesn't seem that common atm. Go for it! I really like my name and the choices to shorten it :)

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/09/2021 20:54

(Is this your first?
If she is, Maddie.
If you’re planning a second, Jess works for both girls and boys.)

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/09/2021 20:53

Sorry, no help at all, love both Jess and Maddie.

HonorHiding · 01/09/2021 20:52

Jessica all the way. Lovely.

alexdgr8 · 01/09/2021 20:44

out of those two, Jessica.
don't particularly like it; it's ok.
but much better than madison, horrible, also maddie, horrible. avoid.

GintyMcGinty · 01/09/2021 20:44

DramaAlpaca · 01/09/2021 20:40

santabetterwashhishands · 01/09/2021 20:27

Definitely Jessica x

daisypond · 01/09/2021 20:25

Jessica.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/09/2021 20:25

Jessica is so much nicer it's a classic but not used much atm. Lovely

I'm. Not a fan of Madison, I always think it sounds a bit down market. Sorry

HeronLanyon · 01/09/2021 20:21

Just saw sibling is William. Could not agree more that Madison is a wholly different type of name ( partic if it is Will rather than say Billy).

Can’t imagine how this would ever crop up but if there were a Will and Madison sibling lair and I were forced to have an opinion I might think they had different fathers or one was adopted or fostered etc. That’s how different they sound to me.
Not sure that all matters but there we are.

Palavah · 01/09/2021 20:14

@RobinPenguins

Jessica. Really don’t like Madison and it’s a completely different style to William.
Agree
AnyaMoondial · 01/09/2021 20:12

Jessica. Can easily imagine being intimidated by a Jessica at work and going for a pint with a Jess. It’s a great name.

TenThousandSpoons · 01/09/2021 18:13

Jessica by a long way.

RobinPenguins · 01/09/2021 18:01

Jessica. Really don’t like Madison and it’s a completely different style to William.

Almostcooked2021 · 01/09/2021 17:46

@JSL52

Jessica - why do baby name threads always have a nn ? Can't the baby be called Jessica known as Jessica. Sorry - just puzzled.
I guess that’s because we know it’ll get shortened. William is very rarely William and nearly always Will so I need to know I’m comfortable with the shortened versions.

Thanks for the Madeleine suggestions - totally not a fan of that one I’m afraid.
