Mine would have been Isambard and Isis !

It’s just as well that you get 6 weeks to register a bi try h.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MsTSwift · 30/08/2021 22:16

Lorelai what was I thinking. Our surname has two Ls in it total tongue twister

Bellagonna · 30/08/2021 22:13

I had a very challenging labour, at one point I turned to one of the midwives and said I would call him Richard because he was being a complete dick about coming out properly Blush

ladygindiva · 30/08/2021 22:13

Quinn ( still quite like it)
Claudia ( after a dream)
Django ( definitely hormones)

RicherThanYew · 30/08/2021 22:11

If I'd had more sense than to post for opinions on here my first born would have been Scotty, after the Star Trek engineer. I wanted his middle name to be Tiberius but my MIL stuck her oar in about that.

Put your foot down people and stick to your guns!

Biscuitsneeded · 30/08/2021 22:11

Hermione, which I still really like, but luckily DS was a boy so we didn't have to test out how a child named Hermione would fare in a state school.

@dontstealmymagnolias

Dd was born at 36 weeks via emcs as I had a catastrophic haemorrhage. I named her a very normal name in utero. When she was born and I first saw her in SCBU I just knew her name had to be changed to Cherry Blossom. No idea where this came from, but the feeling was so strong and I felt it suited her so well. I was absolutely devastated when I announced the new name to my family and they were all Hmm. DH suggested that it would be too tiring for me to register her immediately and we should wait. About 3 weeks later I woke up and thought wtf about naming my child this. Dd is very grateful that DH wanted to hold off!
Oh that made me laugh Grin I’m glad you’re both ok - and that your DH was still thinking straight after such a difficult time for you all!

BikeRunSki · 30/08/2021 21:54

Great thread! I am currently pregnant with my first and now wondering if my 1st choice name is any good or if it’s my hormones 🤣 … it’s Hugo! Is this nice or naff ?? 🤣

The first three might not have gone down too well at their Scottish state school, I recognise that now, but I’m still miffed about Magnus & Odin.
I've met a bloke from the Orkneys called Magnus.
I thought it was a brilliant name.[/quote]
It is, isn’t it? Smile

DH knows nothing

greenlynx · 30/08/2021 21:24

The same, I’ve done my list of girls names in my 20s . 2 of them were already taken by DH’s nieces when we’ve met so I’ve got only one choice left.

I also considered Artemis if DS2 had been a girl.

DSIS considered 'Bliss' when she was wacked out on diamorphine.

Justjoinedforthis · 30/08/2021 21:21

Dusty

MyCousinDaphne · 30/08/2021 21:19

DD1 I wanted to name Blossom. Do said no. DD2 I was going for Artemis. I still love this, but they do both suit their actual more mainstream names

NiceGerbil · 30/08/2021 21:16

Trader!!! Brilliant!

Made me think immediately of only fools and horses!

sjxoxo · 30/08/2021 21:14

forgot to add that my FIL wanted to call my DH ‘Trader’
Yes. What the actual F! I think it’s an Indiana Jones reference. Luckily my MIL vetoed that one

Nettleskeins · 30/08/2021 21:11

Ornella
Thank goodness it wasn't a girl that time...
Still Nellie wouldn't have been that outlandish

BabyRace · 30/08/2021 21:11

Allegra. NN Allie. I still love it

MaMelon · 30/08/2021 21:08

@BikeRunSki

I love these., We should all be braver!!
I blame my DH - who was most put out when I wouldn’t consider Sarah because it was his ex fiancée’s name (it’s a nice name apparently Hmm). So I don’t get all my lovely names DH but you get to name our DD after your ex? Yeah, jog on, you plonker.

@JoyOrbison 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Friend of mine had hyperemisis right up to the birth of her son, followed by a crash section. She said she was genuinely surprised when the hormones and drugs wore off a few days later and realised they’d given him a very mainstream name!

DC1 was nearly Clement Darius. Thank heavens a colleague talked me out of it with a polite “Oh lovely! That’s a… big name to live up to.”
