How popular is Alexander for a baby/toddler in your area? It's been my favourite name for years even tho I don't normally like traditional names. I'm due end of November we have our girls names sorted but boys were super stuck on and keep coming back to Alex but I don't like popular names and ifs always high in the charts but people I've spoken to don't know any little Alexs so just wondering how popular it actually is

I know one toddler Alex, but she's a girl (Alexandra on birth cert but Alex for everything else). I think I've heard of one other, around six. I don't think its super popular atm, but you can check the statistics on a regional basis if that would be reassuring. Though our DDs name was 300-something the year before she was born and jumped to 60-something the year she was born so you can't rely on that too much!

Loads in my kids school. It's the most commons boys name in both of their years - 4 in each year (out of 60). They're going into yr1 and yr5, so 5/6, 9/10 year olds.

It's a lovely name. Not boring.

There's an Alex and an Alexander in DD's preschool room (so 3yo). It's a lovely name though, go with it.

We think a stronger name on a boy is better than some of my other options like Ralph, Rufus, Jasper etc which are getting really popular now anyway and DH hates them.

Alex is the only one we can agree and I'm glad to know it's not popular on little ones! My only concern is that it's boring but I don't know if it is!

One Alexander in my house Wink

And he’s the only one in his primary school of 350.

It's a great name and lots of nickname options. I wouldn't consider it particularly common/popular and definitely not faddy.

Honestly I don’t think I know an Alex under 12.

I imagine it’s a very solid name but i wouldn’t say it’s common anymore.

It’s a lovely name, definitely go for it!
