Strong opinions on here - both are lovely imo but I prefer Willow - my daughter is a Willow and we've always loved the name mainly for the symbolism of the tree - she is 13 and it seems more popular now but it excessively so.

Willow is beautiful. Love the symbolism - a tree which bends but never breaks. Ruby is ok, but reminds of Ruby Wax and I just don't think it sounds as sophisticated. I know a 28 year old Willow.

I only know one Ruby (elderly) and one Willow (teenage).
Both lovely people.

I associate Ruby with the maid in Upstairs Downstairs from the 1970s (yes, I'm old), so Willow seems younger.

The names seem quite different, so why not wait until you meet her before deciding?

I prefer Willow, as I think only people with red hair should be called Ruby, but that's just my opionion.

I know two people called Ruby, one is 21 and the other would be 9 or 10.

I prefer Ruby to Willow.
