A bit stuck for names for DD3. Opinions on the following please -

Imogen
Esther
Winter

Or other suggestions. Thanks.

I like Winter but I think Esther is more universally acceptable.

campion · 20/08/2021 14:26

Imogen is classic, though always seems to end up as Immie.
Esther is fine but I prefer Elspeth.

Winter is a bleak season or a surname. What's wrong with normal names these days?! Completely different to your first two and not in a good way. She'd probably be Winnie in no time.

Jins · 20/08/2021 14:17

Imogen tops that list by a mile. Quite a way behind is Winter and right at the bottom behind almost every other girls name that exists comes Esther.

mamaoffourdc · 20/08/2021 14:09

I have a 16 year old Winter ❤️

GintyMcGinty · 20/08/2021 13:59

Imogen and Esther are fine classic names.

Winter is really awful - sorry.

minatrina · 20/08/2021 13:57

@fortifiedwithtea

Why is Winter ridiculous? When Spring or Summer are acceptable.

Personally I like Winter , gives me Game of Throne vibes. Imogen and Ester are lovely too.

In fairness, I can't imagine people who dislike the name Winter would be fans of the name Spring either

OP, personally I vote Esther Smile

CallieOpie · 20/08/2021 13:53

On similar lines, do you like Ingrid or Elspeth?

Noshowwithoutpunch · 20/08/2021 13:46

Love Esther.

ColdAsMice · 20/08/2021 13:22

I think Winter is a beautiful name

Skyla2005 · 20/08/2021 11:19

Summer !

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/08/2021 11:16

Esther.
Imogen is nice but it will be Immy
Winter is bleak

TatianaBis · 19/08/2021 23:59

Imogen by miles. Esther is ugly and a compound made from an acid, Winter is naff.

FartnissEverbeans · 19/08/2021 22:12

Imogen is a nice name but I’ve taught loads of them so it seems really boring and dated now.

Esther is nice too.

I really like Winter actually!

MadeOfStarStuff · 19/08/2021 20:21

Love Imogen, Esther is nice, don’t like Winter at all

pilates · 19/08/2021 19:36

Definitely Imogen

TabithaTiger · 19/08/2021 19:30

Most definitely Imogen! I don't like Esther, at all, sorry!

I don't mind Winter, but I think it's the sort of name someone could quite easily resent being given!

polkadotpixie · 19/08/2021 19:16

@YukoandHiro I do know how to pronounce Esther, I should have said the 'sth' spelling reminds me of asthma, not sound

DemBonesDemBones · 19/08/2021 19:12

Either Esther or Winter. Imogen is just...meh.

JamieLeeBee · 19/08/2021 19:06

Winter seems to getting over popular now, I've seen it quite a lot. Also wynter, I don't quite understand why anyone spells it that way to be honest, but that's just my opinion.

I mogen is lovely, but Esther is a timeless name too.

@polkadotpixie I don't think you know how to pronounce Esther. There's no "sth" sound. It's Ess-ter

YukoandHiro · 19/08/2021 18:36

We have an Esther and we adore her name. Her older sister nicknames her Esti which is also sweet

Ellmau · 19/08/2021 18:31

Imogen - lovely

Esther - a bit plain

Winter - awful, sorry OP (and I feel the same about Summer et al if that's any comfort)

changingstages · 19/08/2021 15:05

I know an (adult) winter but he's an American man. It does suit him. It would probably raise a few eyebrows but it's not so crazy that it's unusable! I think it's quite nice, really.

I do love Imogen too, I like Ginny as a nickname.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/08/2021 14:59

I also detest Autumn, Summer, Wren etc. I think they will sound very dated soon.
Esther though, classically beautiful. I think of the lovely Esther in Bleak House.
