I like Imogen though it's not a popular name where I live and never met one before so it doesn't seem dated to me as some others have said.

I like Winter although I don't think I'd be brave enough to use it. Also I think it wouldn't flow well with my surname. I suppose as well you could have the nickname Winnie which is cute.

goldenrachita · 23/08/2021 18:36

Esther is beautiful.

I like Winter and the meaning is a plus.

I've never understood why Imogen is a nice sound but maybe that's me. It's in the Harriet bracket for me- very studious sounding.

Enko · 23/08/2021 13:04

I love winter as a name. I cant stand imogen
Esther is meh for me so of that list 100% winter.

PersianStar · 23/08/2021 07:49

I have an Esther, it’s such a timeless name and I can’t imagine her being called anything else. She’s only 2 so not developed a nickname yet but imagine it will be Essie when she’s older if she wants.
I love Winter but DP would veto it as being “out there” sadly
I really dislike Imogen, I’m not really sure why. It’s just abit forgettable.

peaceinourtime · 23/08/2021 06:53

Imogen is ok. For the other two you have to think of nicknames that may be used, I knew an Esther who went by Essie, some what cute but you know. The same applies to Winter, I think Winnie is an inevitable nickname. NB i'm not too much of a fan of either name, just my two peace worth.

Love Winter. imogen is very boring and common. Ester is a bit ugly. Winter us pretty and unusual

Elspethelf · 22/08/2021 01:10

Esther is my favorite of the three, but I like all of them!

Snugglybuggly · 22/08/2021 00:41

Winter?!

No way

CherryDocsInYrBalls · 22/08/2021 00:30

I like Winter. I also like Emerald and Cherry type names. Esther is the name Sylvia Plath uses in The Bell Jar. Magenta is a nicer sound than Imogen imo, I also like Jenny, (the gen sound) if you like the I at the start of the name have you thoght of Ione? I also like Agnetha (silent g and th pronounced t - annyetta)

Babydust13 · 21/08/2021 11:59

I really like Winter ❤️

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 21/08/2021 11:58

Imogen.

Esther is a bit old lady and Winter is just as ridiculous as Summer, Autumn, April, May, June, Robin, River, Wren and Willow.

lottiegarbanzo · 21/08/2021 10:28

Esther or Imogen

If you live in the UK, winter is no longer the white, sparkly season portrayed on Victorian-inspired Christmas cards. It is muddy, wet and rainy.

Calling someone Winter would be like calling them 'Mud'.

Orangestarfish · 21/08/2021 10:22

@Tiramiwho

Imogen at a push. Esther only if you are Jewish. Winter? Sorry but no.
@Tiramiwho I've never really seen the name Esther as being particularly Jewish, although it obviously has Hebrew origins. I wonder whether you wouldfeel the same about names like Naomi or Abigail? I can see how using a more unusual name which is not from your cultural or religious background might be a bit odd, but Esther is a pretty well-known name now, so I don't see it as an issue.

IMO, Esther is fab. Imogen is "meh" and Winter is a bit daft.

DowntonCrabby · 20/08/2021 23:22

Winter’s out there but fine for a nov/dec/jan/feb baby.
I am secretly Confused at an ex colleague’s June born DGC given the name though,

Esther is lovely, I possibly wouldn’t use it unless fairly religious, Imogen is another generally nice name.

NessieMcNessface · 20/08/2021 23:12

I love the name Winter. I wouldn’t have chosen it for my own children because it would sound very silly with our surname, but with the right surname it would be lovely. My favourite time of year too.

Tiramiwho · 20/08/2021 23:11

@AnxiousAnnie86

Also Winnie as a nickname 🥺😍
Winnie is such a sweet nickname!
Comedycook · 20/08/2021 23:04

I love Winter...it's sweet

Cannot stand Imogen...such a frumpy, clunky name

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/08/2021 23:03

Also Winnie as a nickname 🥺😍

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/08/2021 23:01

Pulled a face

AnxiousAnnie86 · 20/08/2021 23:01

@Orangestarfish I love winter! Plenty of autumn and summers out there! People pulled a name at my choice, but now she is her name!!! X

Orangestarfish · 20/08/2021 16:34

Well, lots of food for thought! Most people seem to love Imogen, hate Winter, and Esther seems like a bit of a marmite name... Thanks all.
