It's a lovely name but sadly the bigots have approrpisted anything like Karen

Kerenza sounds good !

pickingdaisies · 20/08/2021 18:00

There's always oneHmm

drpet49 · 20/08/2021 17:56

Sounds a bit chavvy to me

Candyapple49 · 20/08/2021 17:50

I have never heard it before but love it . It sounds very pretty and makes me think of Kirren Island in the Famous Five ( a good thing !) way more than Karen .

ElvisPresleyHadABaby · 20/08/2021 17:31

Merryn I love, also know a Kesia?

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/08/2021 09:47

I don't like it, but I don't particularly like Kerry, Cerys, Carys, Keira etc either.

GreyhoundG1rl · 19/08/2021 23:55

No, it sounds like a mashup of Karen and Kerry.

BertieBob · 19/08/2021 23:54

My male cousin is called Kerin, I've since taught a girl called Kerren.
Both unusual and nice names. I'm not sure of the origin.

Pumpkinstace · 19/08/2021 23:43

I have a Celyn, pronounced Kelin.

ViperHalliwell · 19/08/2021 23:40

If you already have a Karen, I think it's too close. How about Malyn(n), Merrin, or Seren?

peaceinourtime · 19/08/2021 13:46

I met a lovely one (not a child) which helps trigger positive connections to the name.

PlainJane1000 · 19/08/2021 01:19

I like Kerryn a lot! I think it's pretty without being frilly and it goes from child to adult well.
I've known two and I don't think it's too difficult to recognise as a different name to Karen. I imagine it will be occasionally misheard for Karen but I don't think thats a big deal.

Reallyreallyborednow · 19/08/2021 00:45

She’ll be spelling it and correcting people for all eternitY

I think you get that with any name- pp mentioned Jane/Jayne, my friend is Jane and always correcting/spelling, and still people get it wrong persistently!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 19/08/2021 00:41

I wish I’d been brave enough to go for Merryn for my second DD. I like Kerryn, it’s unusual without being too out there.

Buttercup54321 · 19/08/2021 00:34

Very pretty.

Happenchance · 18/08/2021 23:34

It's a bit too closed in on itself for my liking.

GlaskinsPerpetual · 18/08/2021 23:28

I'm not keen. Reminds me of Kevin

Kite22 · 18/08/2021 23:23

I've known 2. On would be 19 now and one about 60.
One spelt Keren and one spelt Keryn. I've not seen the name spelled as you have.

I do think they would have to spell if for people at first, but it is easy enough to then remember. I'd only see it the same as having to spell Jane or Jayne, as both are equally 'right', and easy to remember once you know how the name is spelt for that particular person. It isn't really weirdly spelt.

I quite like it as a name. Nice sound to it and easy to know how to say it if you see it written down.

Orangestarfish · 18/08/2021 23:18

It's nice but probably a little too similar to Karen for me. I love Kerensa / Kerenza.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/08/2021 08:26

Its a nice name but I wouldn't say it was pretty

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 17/08/2021 22:13

She’ll be spelling it and correcting people for all eternity. And be called Karen. And on behalf of Karens everywhere, it’s a pain in the arse name to be lumbered with right now!

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 17/08/2021 22:11

I love Merryn.

VienneseWhirligig · 17/08/2021 22:11

I went to school with a boy called Kerin. So it reminds me of him - I like the name but have a poor association with it because he was a bully

DramaAlpaca · 17/08/2021 22:09

It's lovely. Sadly I think it's too similar to Karen.

Wombat64 · 17/08/2021 21:01

I know a Cerryn but I think she said she's named for a cow, possibly literally.
