What boys names could Ozzy be a nickname for?

Have always liked the nickname Ozzy since going to college with a lovely Ozzy. Can only think of Oswald as a full name though, which is a no from me.

Are there any other names which could reasonably be shortened to Ozzy?

I know two - one is Oscar and the other is surname Oswald

Skybluepinkgiraffe · 17/08/2021 12:32

Oscar is the obvious one to me, but you've had some great suggestions.
I'd never have thought of Austin but it works.

Echobelly · 17/08/2021 12:30

August?

Oisín is a boys Irish name . It is pronounced Usheeen and means “ little dear - the forest animal ! It can be shorted to the pet name “Ush” . My ds is an Oisín

VanillaAndOrange · 17/08/2021 12:21

The one I know is Austin but Oscar would also work. I've also heard of a José who ended up as Ozzy when he settled in the English countryside!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/08/2021 10:18

if you want to use Ozzy as a nickname you can.
nicknames don't have to correlate with first names.

Currently I'm calling my DD Marsha (because she's got a dress that reminds me of a marshmallow) and DS5 has a long running nickname "the Professor" because of his mannerisms.

Name him whatever you like and use Ozzy as a nickname.
or use Ozzy as a middle name

I know an Arnold who has always been Ozzie.

Any O or Au name with any Z name in the middle - eg. Oliver Zach, Otis Zeb etc would also work.

EducatingArti · 15/08/2021 12:41

Even Oliver at a pinch!

bookh · 15/08/2021 12:41

Definitely go for Austin. We always call ours Ozzy though he is starting to insist on Austin instead.

Hmmmm....Austin. That could definitely grow on me.

@bikeskirun I'm just not keen on Oswald. The Moseley connection probably has something to do with it, and it rhymes with mould - just not my cup of tea 🙂

Oisin?

Is it the Oswald Moseley connection you are trying to avoid OP?

Abhannmor · 15/08/2021 07:17

Austin is nice. Itself short for Augustin

I really like Austin with Ozzy(Aussie) for short.

Thatsnotmypolarbear · 15/08/2021 07:10

Osborne / Osbourne? Though my nephew is called Ozzy and that's his full name.

Frannibananni · 15/08/2021 06:55
