What do people prefer out of

Sonny
Joel
Isaac

Why are boys names so hard?!

Joel for me. Can’t get my head around Sonny for a future adult at all.

crikey456 · 10/08/2021 15:48

Isaac

blitzen · 10/08/2021 15:24

I like Sonny!
Not keen on Joel as I knew one and everyone called him Joe. Joe is nice!

MissBPotter · 10/08/2021 14:51

Sonny is terrible, please not sunny! Isaac is the best IMO but Joel is also far preferable to sonny.

DotDotDotDotDot · 10/08/2021 14:49

Isaac is my favourite from your list. Sonny is my least favourite, seems a bit nicknamey. I haven’t heard Joel for a while, I do like it though. I knew quite a few growing up in the 80’s, mostly pronounced Joe-Elle, 2 syllables. I prefer it pronounced as 1 syllable though.

valleyplaza · 10/08/2021 14:45

Joel

DramaAlpaca · 10/08/2021 14:43

Joel, by far.

I have an irrational dislike of Isaac and Sonny isn't a name, it's a generic term for a small boy.

miltonj · 10/08/2021 14:41

Sonny! Or Isaac but I think it's quite popular. Not Joel, I don't really get how you're meant to say it Grin

Vitallyli · 10/08/2021 14:34

I like all 3, Sonny is cute but I'd like a full name for when he's adult. Isaac is nice but I don't like when it's shortened to Izzy. Joel is cute too.

HPLikecraft · 10/08/2021 14:34

Isaac, then Joel (both of which I like), then literally anything else, then Sonny.

Sonny is a nickname for a child, not the given name of a grown man; not one that wants to be taken seriously at least.

LadyLolaRuben · 10/08/2021 14:33

Joel. Really don't like sonny, seems more of a nick name

Joolsin · 10/08/2021 14:32

Joel

TheWayTheLightFalls · 10/08/2021 14:20

I don’t find Sonny as controversial as others on here! Just make sure your surname doesn’t make it sound like an adjective (“Sonny Margate” or whatever).

Harvey3 · 10/08/2021 13:51

Isaac

LtDansleg · 10/08/2021 13:40

Love sonny Grin

TatianaBis · 10/08/2021 13:22

Joel is very 80s. Really dislike Sonny.

So Isaac, nn Zac.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/08/2021 13:14

Joel is lovely, I'd definitely choose that. Isaac is a nice name, but rather more popular, iyswim.

Agree with PP that Sonny feels more like a nickname rather than a full name (though I do know a very lovely young man with that name)

storkstalk · 10/08/2021 13:09

Isaac

happystory · 10/08/2021 13:08

Not keen on any, sorry. But def not Sonny, I wouldn't like it for a man

emmathedilemma · 10/08/2021 13:00

Isaac

Elouera · 10/08/2021 12:43

Joel is my preference

Never sure if Sonny is pronounced Sunny or Sonn-ee (I knew 2 people, same spelling, different pronunciation)

Isaac- not keen

ButterflyOfFreedom · 10/08/2021 12:40

Joel!

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/08/2021 12:39

Joel or Isaac.

Joel is probably my favourite but people sometimes say Jo-el.

HappyDaysToCome · 10/08/2021 12:36

I love Sonny, but would be worried it would t suit a grumpy teenager/ older man. If maybe have it as a middle name and call child that when older.
I like Joel and Isaac equally.

What about Sullivan nn Sully?

JLM1008 · 10/08/2021 12:32

I like Sonny but would use it as a nickname for the name Samson. Not keen on the other 2.
