Help! baby boy has no name!

Baby boy is a couple of weeks old now and needs a name! We seem to like slightly unusual but known names. What are your thoughts/associations/expectations of someone with the name:

  • Guy
  • Lionel
  • Idris
  • Rudy
  • Wilbur

  • August
  • Basil

What do you call him? Is it a nickname that lends itself to one of the longer names?

I'm not a fan of any of your choices, sorry, with the exception of Guy which is fine.

I love Wilbur. Also quite like Basil. It makes me think of Fawlty Towers rather than Basil Brush or the herb.

August is nice but it sounds a very pretty to me. I think you’d have to have a connection to the month as well. However Gus would be a fab nn.

I really like Guy, Lionel, Rudy and Wilbur. Wilbur might become Wil later if that would bother you? I think I would pair with a classic middle name eg James/Edward.

I’m less keen on Idris and Felix. It’s the sound of them I think that puts me off.

I dislike August and Basil.

  • Felix..love it, cool but not trying too hard

I'm sure whatever you choose, DS will love it and grow into it.

Rudy - cute name, could be good as a NN for a longer version?
Wilbur - love this, but reminds me of "Babe" the pig, sorry!😂

August - lovely name! Could be short for Augustus maybe?
Basil - don't like, reminds me of Basil brushConfused
