I also like Clara, husband loves Eve but I'm not sure because it's quite popular at the moment!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

As soon as I saw your options, Clover came to mind. Sort of incorporates Clara, Lola and Eve.

inappropriateraspberry · 08/08/2021 08:11

And Lola makes me think of Barry Manilow, the Kinks song or Lolita.

inappropriateraspberry · 08/08/2021 08:10

I love Clara! It's in a few old children's stories like Heidi, and I've always thought it was a lovely name.

Urghhhhh · 08/08/2021 08:10

I like the sound of Lola, but not the association with Lolita (the paedophilia themed book/movie). Just something to consider...

@DinosaurDiana

Listen to the Kinks song, then decide if you like the name.
It's one of my favourite songs...

Op, Eve can be short for Evelyn, Evangeline etc.
"The name originally was used a surname, which derived from Aveline, a feminine Norman French diminutive of the name Ava.[2]Ava itself is a hypocoristic Germanic name, of uncertain origin.[3]"

Although I do see your point.

Lola is nice but the ones I’ve met have been a mixed bag. Clara on the other hand is just gorgeous, I would have used it myself by my Sil has a daughter named Lara. I used to go to see the nutcracker every year at Christmas with my grandmother. I’m sad I couldn’t use it.
I do wish my husband liked Clara as much as I do!

@Twokitstwokats

Short for Dolores which means pain.
Slightly more nuanced, 'lady of the sorrows' and is related to the Virgin Mary.

@Potatoy

I hate Lola.

Eve is nice, people might think it's short for something so she might have to keep saying no, it's just Eve. But I like it.

Clara is nice but I prefer Clare.

What would people think it's short for?

I've always known Eve as a full name. Like in that well know book!

Also, it reminds me of Charlie and Lola which we used to read every morning as DD was obsessed. I liked them as well by the end! Still have a soft spot for Soren Lorenson and Lotte.

Kanaloa · 08/08/2021 05:49

I like Lola, Clara, and Eve! I would say Evie is very popular so I see why that would put you off. Out of Lola and Clara I prefer Lola but both are nice.

Pinchoftums · 08/08/2021 05:39

@LolaThePuppy don't worry about being identifying. Our park has 4 Lola dogs I can think of!

Onlinedilema · 08/08/2021 05:27

She was a show girl for me too.

RuthW · 07/08/2021 09:05

Lola is far more popular than Eve here. It merges in with the Layla's and Lila's.

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 07/08/2021 07:54

Clara and Lola are lovely.
Eve is awful!

Other names you light like perhaps....

Chloe
Lila
Lyla
Delilah
Cleo
Lara
Lula
Leah
Lela
Lucia / Cia

SunShinesBrightly · 07/08/2021 07:51

Lila is a nice name too. Pronounced Lee-la

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 07/08/2021 07:44

@FitToFly

It’s not true that people forget about the songs with names in them. Take it from me.
I take it you are Liza,

... with a Z?

Yellowmoons · 07/08/2021 06:32

Reminds me of the kinks song. I think it's sweet for a little girl, but not great for a grown woman. It also merges into a lot of similar names for me, all of which I prefer e.g. Lila, Lyra, Lara, Layla / Leila, Luna etc. Not keen on Clara - feels quite trendy and I think it will date. I really like Eve, despite it's popularity - also Ava and Ada. How about Niamh, Norah, Zara, Zoe, Ciara / Kiera?

whistlers · 07/08/2021 06:32

@BungleandGeorge

You sound set on Lola! Honestly I don’t think any name in the top 50 is going to restrict future career choices or raise eyebrows. If you both like it that’s the main thing
I think I am! There's something about it I just love!

I'm glad it hasn't been completely panned on here

What about Lara?
