I have a Francis. Was Frankie as a child is now Frank. It's a Family name, eldest child takes Francis (or Frances if female) we have a girl cousin Frankie and her daughter has the same name as me.

Franklin is a freewheeling hippy from the furry freak brothers.

Francis every time. Then Frank, if they choose it. My son loves his name.

peaceinourtime · 03/08/2021 06:45

The child will get called /go by Frank as he gets older.

TheWashingMachine · 03/08/2021 00:05

I like Francis.

PearlFriday · 02/08/2021 23:15

My xbf took francis as his confirmation name so he must have aspired to it!

PearlFriday · 02/08/2021 23:14

Francis. Good classic name. Franklin sounds like a huge dog

TheRealKateAdie · 02/08/2021 23:12

I really like both names.

Franklin is a bit edgier. Francis more classic.

PricklesTheHedgehog · 02/08/2021 23:08

Francis, lovely name

Cbeebiesrehab · 02/08/2021 22:25

How on earth can a man ‘aspire’ to a name?

HPLikecraft · 02/08/2021 21:56

Including my lovely grandad!

HPLikecraft · 02/08/2021 21:56

Francis is not a name any man aspires to, it only seems popular with mothers

What a bizarre comment. Do you speak for all men? There are loads of admirable, interesting and/or cool people called Francis, Frank, Frankie or Franklin to aspire to.

Helpmetopickone · 01/08/2021 14:39

@TatianaBis thank you for your opinion however it is a family name passed down through several generations with several children sharing the name. So no not unfair at all

If you have a female Frankie in the family it's a bit unfair to go for Frank.

TatianaBis · 01/08/2021 14:00

I don't like Frank but Franklin is a stronger name than Francis.

MadeOfStarStuff · 31/07/2021 15:30

I really don’t like Francis so I would say Franklin

Helpmetopickone · 31/07/2021 14:59

Do not want to use Frankie as we have a female Frankie in the family. Frank being a family name.

Dislike Francis. Love Franklin!

Enko · 31/07/2021 08:32

I just use Frank however of the 2 I prefer Francis. Not keen on the other.

savingherlife · 30/07/2021 23:59

I have a Frank, known as Frankie. Love it x

mafted · 30/07/2021 23:51

@Einszwei

I love Francis. Franklin reminds me of the animated turtle who was always grumpy!
Yes Grin DC1 used to watch that whiny Turtle!

Francis is lovely, Fran is a cool nn as worn by Fran Healy.
Franklin is a whinging Turtle 🐢

MerryMarigold · 30/07/2021 23:50

Franchise would be Francis!

MerryMarigold · 30/07/2021 23:50

Franklin sounds West Indian to me...I like franchise bit wouldn't abbreviate to Frank. I think Frank can be its own name.

HPLikecraft · 30/07/2021 23:37

I like both, too!

Noshowwithoutpunch · 30/07/2021 14:44

Franklin.
Francis sounds wet

Twizbe · 30/07/2021 14:42

Francis for sure.

Interestingly I don't find it feminine despite it being both my middle name and my mums name.

Theoldwoman · 30/07/2021 14:32

Very marmite!! LOL never heard that before.

Definitely 100% Francis.
